I'm Back
Hi, I'm happy to say that I'm back!
...........after being in hospital with DKA! One or two of you will know me from facebook so will know what I've been through & how I'm doing now. For those that don't really know me have a look at my profile on here and you will see that for some time I've been battling with diabetic denial not testing anywhere as near as I should do and missing injections. My blood sugars even though I was doing some injections certainly for a week before and probably for a few weeks were stuck in the high 20's and 30'6 and even sometimes my meter was showing HI which for my meter is over 33.3! The day before I was admitted to hospital I started vomiting then on the day I was admitted my BG was in the 40's and ketones which were in my urine were 5!
Thankfully I was looked after very well in hospital and my BG's seem to be the best I've ever had.
So now it's test test test (which I was taught on a similar course to DAFNE) and act accordingly.
As well as my diabetic nurse at my GP surgery the Diabetic nurse at the hospital has also put me in touch with the diabetic community nurses based at the hospital and I can phone or email whenever I feel the need to.
I had my letter through this morning for my 6 month HbA1c which is being done next week with my follow up diabetic clinic a week later.

Good to hear from you Gill, and very sorry to hear about the problems you have been having. Hopefully, with the support you are now getting you will be able to get solidly back on track with things, and DKA will be come a distant memory for you 🙂 Try not to get overwhelmed with things and bring those levels under control steadily 🙂

Nice to see you again Gill. Sorry to hear about the DKA, but hope it provides a push to get you back on track.

Great to hear about the good support team you have around you

Please look after yourself

Welcome back. 🙂

Gill hi good to see you back on the forum. Sorry you have had a rough time of it in hospital

Welcome back, Gill. 🙂 Sorry to hear about your DKA. Glad to hear you've recovered and are back home. I've never had DKA but I was overwhelmed and in denial for a while - baby steps are what you need to take to get back on track. We're all here to support you, don't forget that.🙂

Thank you for all the kind replies 🙂
