Mounjaro Monday - week one update.

Hi,

So it has been a week since I took my first Mounjaro shot.

It’s been… well, kind of underwhelming to be honest! I’ve had no change in appetite and no noticeable symptoms other than feeling off-colour and tired on Wednesday. Weight wise - I keep losing and gaining the same pound.

I’ve stuck to my food regime and have made decent progress at the gym. I feel like I’m getting a little stronger and my endurance is improving. I generally feel slightly less sluggish - but I put that down to diet and exercise rather than the jab.

I think that people react to the jab at different rates, with some people having that immediate effect and big weight loss. I appear to be in the camp where things are going to be a little slower. So be it. I just need to have patience and trust the process.

It is a little frustrating that the scales aren’t showing the results when I think they should be. But, my body is going through a lot of change. I guess it’s in that strange mode where it tries to hang on to the fat in case there is a famine. I guess the first 20 lbs came off quickly, so it’s triggered this reaction. I just need to keep at it until things start shifting again.

Patient and consistency are key. I will keep pushing forwards.

Thanks for the update @Katetype2

Good for you for looking on the bright side, and trying to be pragmatic about it.

I suppose at least you haven’t had a significant adverse reaction so far! Hopefully over the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see some steady and sustained progress, as your body begins to adjust and adapt 🙂

I really hope so. Thank you.

Keep us posted @Katetype2, you're doing really well so don't forget where you started on your journey and how far you have come already.

One thing I was thinking about last time you posted was whether you've had a HbA1c recently (pre-Mounjaro) to see the impact on your sugar levels 3+ months later?

From what I've gathered about Mounjaro, most people don't see much weight loss on the lower doses, it's just supposed to let your body get used to the medication gradually. You've already lost a lot of weight on your own so I'm sure you will see the pounds dropping off again soon xx

My last blood test was in November so I’m due end of Feb. The nurse thinks I should have it in March to give the Mounjaro some time to do its thing - so we shall see.
Thank you.

Yeah I hope so. I think I’m overthinking it rather than trusting the process.
I feel like at my size, it should be falling off me - but I need to remember I’m 45 now, period-menopausal and on a bunch of meds. I just need to be patient and it will happen.
