I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Moorfields don't give me unexpected "surprises" tomorrow - it's my first appointment with them - will they have the same views about the eye bleed as my local hospital? Will they comment on issues with the macula on my "good" idea - mentioned by two different opticians but not my hospital. How much vision have I lost in my left eye ie as shown by a visual field test - local hospital keep refusing to comment although I've seen that there are missing spots.....and so on.

I was at Moorfields as a child and they were great then. They have an excellent rep and a lot of expertise. Good luck with your appointment.

Thank you Alison

Good luck for tomorrow AJ. Keeping everything crossed for you. 🙂

Thank you Amigo and Happydog

good luck from me too, AJ. my cousin was treated for a complicated detached retina at Moorfields, and they were excellent.

I've heard only good things about Moorfields, I hope the appointment goes well 🙂

Thank you for the reassurance Robin and Alan 🙂

Good luck today AJ, I hope it goes well 🙂. All that refusing to comment business would drive me mad so I hope they communicate clearly.

Thankyou KookyCat. I've always found eye consultants difficult to get information from. I've now built up a great rapport with my glaucoma consultant because I see her so often🙄 but completely different with the retinal doctors.

I've been there for retinopathy and suspected retina detachment. My partner has been going there for 20+ years for glaucoma. Truly 'world class'.

Hope it went well, AJ.🙂

Hope the appointment is very useful, wishing you all the best

Thank you everyone. New vessels in the left eye that still need lasering despite the lasering two weeks ago. Also still some bleeding although it is being reabsorbed. Vessels/bleeding caused by the retinal vein occlusion from six years ago, not retinopathy. Urgent 1-2 week referral to the specialist retinal clinic for lasering - will aim to do it under general anaesthetic because I couldn't manage anymore awake after last time. Also small bleed in my previously "good" right eye caused by retinopathy but no action for that - however I was surprised/upset by that small bleed as it was unexpected.

it's always a heart sink moment when something unexpected is found. I'm glad they're getting your lasering sorted urgently. Were you happy with the appointment generally, I mean from the point of view of having confidence in the person you saw and what they were saying? I always think that counts for a lot.

I'm so sorry it's not better news Wish you best results after treatment 🙂

Thank you Robin and LindaRose. Robin it was a little strange because my GP had referred me directly to the retinal clinic but the appointment was actually in a more general clinic which has now had to refer me urgently to the retinal clinic. So that was a little surprising. However I did trust what the docto said and she was more helpful and informative than my local retinal consultant.
