Tha pain in my foot is always there to a varying degree. It tends to hit a peak between 2;00 and 4:00am, and again 2:00 and 4:00pm. Just had to call on PRN opiates. Hope I can get some sleep before the silly o'clock obs!

Sorry to hear youre still in pain MikeyBikey. If it's any consolation I too suffer pain in my right leg from knee down. Painkillers didn't really help so I went on line to seek alternative meds and bought Herbal Pain Relief Partches. By the second day, the pain had lessoned and the third day I had no pain. If I happen to forget to apply another patch, my leg will certainly tel me that I need to replace the patch. Having said that, what works for one may not work for another but they work for me 🙂

I have also just bought Pain Relief Patches for my very painful Sciatica. The Amitriptyline which is a med to supposedly relieve Sciatica pain, isn't doing it and neither are the exercises that my Physiotherapist suggested. Fingers crossed these patches do the trick.

I was hoping to post a sensible update. The only one is I am seeing Diabetic/Foot/Vascular team in the morning

And I have just been told I am being discharged after the appointment although I struggle to (painfully) do any sort of transfer! (Laugh or cry emoji)...

Two photos from this morning. It looks like I may miss appointment for to (outsourced ) porterage screw up Second toe looks bad. There is also massive are at dry/dead skin coming away from heel/lower foot. I suspect never seeing water is a year could be the cause but I have no official comment. Apologies for poor quality...

Yeah, the second toe doesn't look good BUT I think the general colour of your foot is good/better and even right up to the base of that scab on the second toe looks like healthy tissue supply and the scab looks very dry so I am wondering if it is healing underneath because it looks like the blood flow to the toe is good and that perhaps that scab will eventually shed and leave a health looking toe underneath. I imagine you have been keeping it up a lot more in hospital than you might at home through necessity, so that may have helped with blood flow and healing. I hope they cut that large flap of dead skin away otherwise there is a risk it will catch on something and potentially tear healthy skin.

I have to confess I am itching to do some gentle scab picking from those toes! When my Dad had a very serious accident and was in a plaster cast from his chest down to his toes for 12 weeks, I got the job of dressing his wounds through little trapdoors in the plaster when he came home. I was only about 6 at the time but I remember it so clearly and those scabs and damaged tissue remind me a lot of that..... I should say, I must have done a good job as his wounds made a full recovery although the damage to his back and hip was a life long battle to regain reasonable mobility.

I really hope my gut feeling is right and that thick scab on the second toe will eventually shed a bit like a chrysalis and leave a healthy toe underneath. At least there is no sign of oozing, weeping sores like you had before which is where infection is most likely to take hold. It looks dry and much less swollen and a good colour. I think there are grounds to be optimistic if you can get regular treatment of it once you get home.

Are they still discharging you today?

Thanks for updating us @MikeyBikey even if the news is not as good as you hoped. I agree with Barbara, your foot is looking better than before, even with the scabs and dead skin. Have they finally managed to sort the infection out with the antibiotics?
I hope you are well enough to go home soon. It would be nice if you could have follow up care at home. Sending you hugs and best wishes x

In my view, your foot looks overall better - less red, less swollen and generally more "calm".

The scab on your toe looks like it is maturing to drop off (the scab, not.....), so fingers crossed on that. No picking!

The ginagerous peel off pn your sole looks like a magnet to someone like me, but I do hope it can be trimmed back by someone who really knows what they're up to. That alone would make your foot appear even more normalised.

My fingers remain firmly crossed that my optimism is warranted.

You haven't said anything about pain levels. I do hope they have moderated at least. You really could do with catching a decent break, or two.
