Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello , I have been diagnosed T2 for about a year now, and have had the usual journey with Metfartin, initially I had stomach upsets and the squits, but I am now on the slow release version.
But I do suffer from stomach wind, which makes me uncomfortable, sometimes I get it bad at night, and get very unpleasant 'Duvet lifters' , if you get my meaning,
Is there anything to mitigate it ? Also my appetite is shot to pieces, which means I often don't eat much, very small meals, but my weight has remained constant ,around 12 stone for a 6 ft 2 tall bloke, tho' it has to be said I was overweight before diabetes presented itself, I was very active,so symptoms didn't show up before I slowed down with a less busy working life, and early retirement.

I'm on metformin too @Grldtnr , but I'm afraid I've always suffered from duvet lifters, so can't tell you if it's the metformin or not! I've been fortunate that metformin hasn't really made much difference apart from a bit of a dicky tum to start with, and even that wasn't bad enough to complain about. However, if I'm particularly "trumpy" I blame it on metformin, well that's what I tell my partner!
Have you tried any over-the-counter meds for it? I've never bothered, and work on the basis it's better out than in.

Well, I might be a bit Donald Trump, but it is a bit annoying having this feeling of trapped wind all the time!
Used to have a dog with chronic wind, it even surprised him sometimes, gave him charcoal biscuits and yoghurt , seemed to mitigate it a bit.
Maybe that's what I need quite like the yoghurt ,can't say I am keen on charcoal?

Well have you actually tried an over the counter indigestion remedy - I find Rennies pretty helpful at getting my wind up and having a damn good, satisfying belch instead of belly ache.

I found Deflatine was really good for both upper and lower trapped wind.

Oh, if only, Jenny! I've never been able to belch, it all "goes south" as my dear old ma used to say 😉

Same here, yet one of the Small Madelines can burp the alphabet. They’re a talented bunch!

Ever got anyone to rub your back, firmly, for a while whilst chewing the Rennie or just after, with you sitting upright? ie same as what you do with a baby ? (but tell em you don't need your chin supported thanks)

Hope you find a solution @Grldtnr and @Vonny.

Sounds uncomfy to say the least!
