The cherry tomatoes are higher in carbs, in particular sugar, than the ordinary salad tomatoes. There has been a call for them to be labelled under a separate carb content as they are out of the allowed variation, so it might be advisable to avoid them.
I only have one or two at a time. I treat them as treats. I have been testing my bloods before and after eating and they are ok. Thanks for the heads up though.

The problem with zero[ish] carb diets is the lack of a zero carb sandwich medium. We lasted a year+ by using full fat cheese slices (edam etc) as the outer layer with chicken slices, smoked salmon, other zero carb items inside. It was tough and a bit boring but it is possible, we also cooked meals, meat, fish but very careful with veg. My night-time snack was 2 macadamia nuts. Was as if I didn't have diabetes for that year or so, BG was 4-5 constantly with maybe 1-2 units of bolus, no basal. Not recommending it, but it is possible. Asked my DM team if diet ketosis was ok if DKA was harmful, never got an answer.
I manage fine because I make my own very low carb bread. I was hopeless at it at first but after some practise my loaves are easily as good as bought standard bread.

I am working hard to find very low carb alternatives for everything and I am now at the stage where I eat much more variety than I used to eat.

I have zero carb versions of curries, naan breads, pappadums, balti, sweet and sour pork/prawns/chicken and 'rice', sushi rolls, crispy chilli beef and noodles, croissants, pizza etc etc roast dinners with yorkshire pudding if I fancy, savoury pies, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, burgers in home made sesame burger buns - this week I created a keto version of a Weetabix biscuit that was wonderful and didn't budge my sugars at all. The only things I cannot have are pieces of some fruit but I can have zero calorie home made jelly and cream desserts and flavour them with fruit flavours I love -and of course I can have berries sparingly.

I never ate chocolate and desserts before my diagnosis and now I eat them frequently.
I would never go back to non-keto eating - looking back on it I couldn't cope with the boredom

...and your zero-carb list, naan bread, poppadums, pizza, home made sesame burger buns ?

No offence but... doesn't sound likely. ..are you helping people with diabetes or promoting a social media channel ?
LOLS.. I wish...

They aren't zero carb of course - but very very low carb and around 1 g carb per slice of bread and 4 g per big piece of pizza and 4g carbs per croissant etc but it doesn't matter anyway as i am not selling any of them - I'm eating them and sharing recipes where I can - for free.

I know it does sound incredible doesn't it? But it is perfectly true. It is all common sense and plenty of determination and a complete love of food. I have always loved eating and being diagnosed with diabetes wasn't going to stop my fun. I am lucky enough to be a very single minded person plus I have an IQ of around 161 and very sensitive taste buds. I enjoy trying to replicate foods as a challenge. I am nearly sixty now and in my twenties I once spent most of a year attempting to create a cheesecake I once ate as a child and I got there eventually, I then did the same thing to replicate a soup I once had on holiday with my parents in France.

It is just one of my special interests. It makes me uncomfortable to think of people having diabetes and eating boring food and taking meds when a few simple swaps can in some cases mean they can do without meds and be eating better than they ever have previously. But at the moment it takes a lot of work because none of the finished foods can be bought at reasonable prices so I spend most of my time cooking from basic ingredients.

My personal version of a fast food - is something that takes less than an hour to make. I can have all those lovely foods but they take hours especially the croissants - they take the better part of a day to make including an overnight rest of the dough in the fridge.

I will research this Psyllium stuff. Have not come across it before, so apologies if I seemed to disbelieve you (I did). However, happy to learn about low-zero carb stuff if it can approximate dough. Thanks (I think)

Just found that we have this stuff in our Fybogel (we take strong painkillers)

Sorry about your IQ level 🙂

Have a look at the thread on this forum -
The keto king recipe on there is the basic loaf of yeast bread I first attempted and perfected and the Flax and Oat Fibre Keto Yeast Bread recipe is one I put together after some experiments with different similar recipes.

@Robert459
Psyllium is just a high fibre plant based product and is the main ingredient of the medical supplement Fibogel which is prescribed for people with bowel problems to keep them regular (not a laxative though). It is a useful ingredient to have if you are following a low carb/no grain diet as many of us were used to getting most of our fibre from grains and suffered from constipation when we starting low carbing,
I have just made a low carb microwave chocolate mug cake using it.... took about 10 mins including cooking. It is very light and helps to bind the ingredients together. Mixed up a bit of cream cheese frosting with stevia and had myself a cup of tea and some low carb comfort food.

We take 3 different laxative type stuff, Movical, Fybogel and Lactulose. We have severe back problems so use severe opioid painkillers. Don't want to go through "that" again. Instant enema in bathroom cabinet if we do. Nothing to do with diabetes, just complicates life already complex enough

Just a brief comment about the psyllium husk, I've purchased it a couple of times in the past and added it to bread recipes and it turned them a purple colour. Apparently there is one available which is called 'blonde' psyllium husk and this is the best kind. I've seen it on Amazon and I believe it sells out pretty quickly.
