Disorganised today and had no lunch with me. So popped across the road to the rotisserie chicken place.
And I get 10% discount!
Heres todays lunch, chicken and roast veggies.

Looks very nice. I have not decided what I am having yet, but it won't be anything as intresting.

The staff canteen, sorry restaurant (not allowed to call it a canteen), aren't great when it comes to stuff suitable for diabetics but this little cafe opposite the office is great.
Ive emailed the catering team about better diabetic options and basically the reply was there isnt much of a call for it!!!

That look scrumptious

Was very scrumptious. And filling too. Veggies were carrots, corgettes, peppers, brocolli and green beans.

OMG The mind boggles, What on earth do they think we eat,

Tell me about it. There isnt much in the way of carb free or even reduced options. Twice a week they do a chicken sharwma wrap. I occasionally have this but ask for it with out the wrap so its salad and chicken in a box with some hummus. I dont risk the soups as I dont know what they put in them. They have info about gluten free and nut allergy but not carb content. They wouldnt even consider doing sugar free jelly!!!

I can see someone :D may be visiting that cafe across the road occasionally.

I may have to forget to do lunch more often!!!
They did do a rather nice looking toasted fish finger (7 of them in it) ciabatta, but resisted that one!!!

They're obviously not aware that food that is good for people with diabetes is actually good for everyone! 🙄

Your post brings to mind a place I used to work. We were a computer company, but our premises were rented from the Co-op Dairy, which had a newer building next door where milkmen came and went with their deliveries. As we had this relationship with them we could use their canteen and would often send over a big order. They would do anything as long as it was essentially deep-fried on white bread, so I used to frequently order a bacon, egg, sausage and beans sandwich on crusts for about 40p 😱 They never seemed to run out of crusts, puzzlingly. Really, probably the most unhealthy food you could imagine! 😱 Tasty, mind! :D

that looks awesome.

I've just had 2 bits of chicken (on sticks) from the deli in morrisons and one of their make your own salads with all the good stuff (radish, pepper, cucumber, toms, sweetcorn). Treated myself to a tiny little bit of their coleslaw and a small bit of pasta too.

Feel full and happy now.

If anyone is in the Southwark area of London the cafe is opposite the station and its called Ma's Rotisserie. And if its a week day that you are there let me know and I'll join you for lunch!!!

That would be perfect for me on Atkins. Scrummy. 😛

No call for it! Don't they know there's an epidemic on?

Is it reasonably priced Stitch? That's often the appeal of the carb filled works can...errestaurants, they're subsidised.

That looks lovely. I've just had a scrumptious braised steak dinner from a little place in town. All home made. Always does at least 5 vegetables plus mash. Barely raises my levels (Southwark is a bit far for me or I'd love to meet for lunch) 🙂

It is subsidised but still not cheap, the chicken wrap is £4.85 or I can go over the road and get what I had today for £5.45. I know its a bit more but you definately get more for your money.

I thought bacon egg and sausage was perfectly good for us diabetics

Probably not if you saw how they prepared it Ralph, in big frying pans 3 inches deep in hot fat. Probably (definitely!) not high quality sausages, lots of salt in the bacon (they were very generous, so lots), and on thick white bread crusts 😱

As you say the sausages are the problem, but aren't you confusing diabetes with cardiovascular problems😱 Alan , nothing wrong with a bit of fat and salt.
At least you can throw the bread away (or feed the ducks, sorry RSPB) but once someone has put broccoli on your food your stuffed.

there isnt much of a call for it!!!
Now with 5 million diabetics in the UK that is really sad, I accept that they would not be into LCHF food options but still.....
