Thanks, everyone, for your positive thoughts and vibes. They are much appreciated.

Change of plan...
Having been told they were going to chop off a chunk of liver, since looking at my MRI they have changed their minds and are now going to do 'microwave ablation'. In other words - stick in a probe and zap it😱. So this will be a lot less invasive and give them more options in the future (my particular sort of cancer has a nasty habit of keeping on popping up). I must say I'm glad not to be looking at open surgery and three months out of my life. I may be in hospital for about 5 days (because of my compromised immune system, rather than the procedure) and then a few days to recover. Date to be decided!
So, I imagine Southampton hospital will be buying a microwave that I'll fit inside 🙄- quite large:D

Oh that is so good to hear Susan! 🙂 I hope that the treatment does the trick and that you recover well 🙂 I've just seen a lorry heading down to John Lewis, probably going to get the microwave... 😉

Pleased for you!

That's very good news. You must be very glad to be giving major surgery a swerve on this occasion. I'm thinking of you.🙂

Very good news re not needing surgery! Hope the microwaving goes well... You may come out all toasty 😱

I'm so pleased that you don't need the major surgery x

Thats great news that you dont need major surgery.

I hope some of the replies on here made you chuckle as much as they did me! I'm glad you don't have to go through surgery x

Tell you what, Susan, hepatobiliary surgeons are getting spectacular results from this technique in neuroendocrine tumours, and as you say, you'll be back potting in a week. What's not to like?

That's great news Susan. Keep strong! X

Still waiting for consultant appointment😡. Everything was meant to happen within 4-6 weeks from the beginning of September🙄. My nerves are suffering. Waiting and the unknown are stressful:(

Grr! I hope they get in contact soon Susan, is there anyone you can speak to to find out what progress there is?

Hope you get to see them soon. X

I'll be talking to the nurse specialist tomorrow - as they will have run out of the time scale I was given(and my patience).
What are the targets for cancer treatment these days? I've a feeling they have changed somewhere along the line.
