What does your graph look like?
Mine seems very erratic & I'm not sure if it should be like that lol
It can shoot up to 13 - 14 & then come down to 7 then shoot back up.
I don't seem to stay in range long. My average sugars are 9 -10 & it says i am in range approx 58%
Thanks

Hi, my graph looks like a heart beat as its up and down all the time. I can range from 5/6 then shoot up to 16/17. My approx in range is anything between 25% and 50%. I don't think its good at all as I know of people 85% in range and I just don't know how they do that ha!! I thought it was just mine that was erratic.
What insulin you on? Are you on MDI? I'm forever changing doses on MDI...nightmare!!

Well here's 2 of mine, yesterday's and todays

I'm assuming your spiking is occurring after eating? What kind of things are you eating?

I see in your avatar section you are Type 2, is this correct? Are you on any diabetes medication?
xx

@KS76 thanks but I know I can do better but with things the way they are I've been struggling, we're all individual and it's tough going so don't feel disheartened or anything!

I see from the red lines you must be using the Libre 2, how are you finding it compared to Libre 1?
xx

I get really paranoid that my graph always looks bad and I never get days like yours looks. The Libre 2 difference is only the alarms which are good and beneficial apart from that its exactly the same. The alarms can get annoying especially as my blood sugars are so up and down so I feel like there always going off ha. You getting moved over to the Libre 2?

How long have you been diagnosed? Yeah hopefully, I did the 3 new modules on Libre Academy for it and ordered the reader (it's currently sat in the post office as OH forgot to pick it up on Friday 🙄 LOL) and emailed my team so did everything I was supposed to so I'll just have to wait and see what's in my prescription next month haha xx

Hi.

The things that strike me from looking at your graph are that your target range is set very narrow. The standard guidance is to set it between 3.9 and 10, so that will increase your time in target percentage and make it look better. Secondly, if those red dotted lines are your Libre 2 alarms (I only have Libre 1), you might be best setting the high one a bit lower and the lower one higher, so that you have more time to take action before levels go very high or too low. Having said that, if you have agreed these targets with your health care professionals for some reason then ignore my suggestion.
You didn't mention what you are eating. Moderating your carb intake should help the spikes to go less high and timing of your bolus insulin before eating can also reduce the height of the spike. For me my breakfast bolus needs to be much longer in advance than lunch or evening meal. It is regularly 45 mins or longer for breakfast and 20 mins at other times of the day. That breakfast timing is at the extreme and many people would hypo long before 45 mins so it is worth careful experimentation with timing your bolus and extending it by 5 mins each day until you get the optimum timing where you don't get a large peak going much beyond your range.

I been diabetic for donkeys years (35 to be exact). I'm on a waiting list for a pump but with covid there has been a delay so still waiting!! I hope it will sort out my c**p ups and downs and correcting all the time.
Are you on a pump? Or considering it?

No I'm on MDI and no not considering a pump at the moment, I manage well enough so don't see a reason to change it just now, if I were to consider a pump I'd only be interested in an Omnipod as not keen on the idea of tubing etc

What insulins are you using at the moment?
xx

I eat carbs quite a bit really. Sandwich for lunch usually. Dinner would be jacket potato, pasta, chicken & rice etc.. I think adjusting the target lines will be a good idea as they were just what I put in. I can give bolus 30 mins before my lunch with no issues but only 15 mins before dinner so I don't want to move the timings really as it seems to be ok.
Maybe I need to eat less carbs but anything I eat causes a spike even if its low or no carbs.

I agree with the tubing as I don't think I fancy that so will be the Omnipod for me too. However I don't know anything about them so will look into what I can have and decide when it comes to it.
I'm on Levemir and Novorapid, tried Fiasp a while ago but didn't work for me.

@KS76 I notice you say no or low carb things spike you as well, have you performed a basal test recently as it sounds (and looks) like there may be an issue there

I also eat carbs, porridge for breakfast (usually), a sandwich and something after for my dinner and then potatoes at tea xx

Not done a basal test, I've looked into it but will need to look at it again as cant remember what I need to do.

That may help your levels if you do that and see where you need to make adjustments xx

I'm on novarapid. You sound like me. The rates my sugars fluctuates gives me dizzy spells. Its horrible. Up until 5 wks ago, i had my sugars in control but i started this new medicine called Kaftrio & its destroyed my levels.

I might be daft asking this, but how do you do a basal test?
I was on levemuir long acting but it got stopped when i started a new medication as i was having some pretty nasty lows. Stopped levemuir & i can still drop low in morning even without insulin but then i can ho high in the late evening & then low through night.

This is todays graph, which is the best its been in over a week. Hate my highs but manage to get it down with exercise but once i stop running it tends to go high again.

I haven't done it before so will need to read up on it. Someone else will probably have done it so hopefully they can help us. Otherwise I'm going to Google it.
Are you on any insulin now?
