On Sept 28th I was given my Diabetes Type 2 Diagnosis, on October 1st I left the UK for Shanghai for a 3 month period.
I knew nothing about being a T2, I was not given any advice or guidance, I was totally walking in the dark. I had nobody to talk to about my “condition” and didn't know of any kindred spirits facing the same issues or suffering the same trials and tribulations that being a diabetic presents. This is a life changing event there can be no misconception about that fact.
December 14th I am much, much more knowledgeable and wiser and confident.
On December 23rd I fly back home to Newcastle for a month or so a very different person and able to face life as a T2 diabetic from a much stronger, optimistic and well-informed perspective.
This is all, and I mean all, down to this forum and the people who are involved in it.
Non-judgemental, supportive, always willing to help, accepting everyone with open arms and welcoming.
It is both a serious platform and simultaneously a humorous one.
A true community.
I feel I have made many new friends all on the same journey and all with similar issues albeit with differing degrees of severity. I know you will always be here for me and also for anyone with concerns and question looking for support.
I consider myself very fortunate.
I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone. This forum has literally been my lifeline, and I am not exaggerating in saying that, to sanity and knowledge over the past 3 months and it all down to the people here.
THANK YOU ALL.
