Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
On Sept 28th I was given my Diabetes Type 2 Diagnosis, on October 1st I left the UK for Shanghai for a 3 month period.
I knew nothing about being a T2, I was not given any advice or guidance, I was totally walking in the dark. I had nobody to talk to about my “condition” and didn't know of any kindred spirits facing the same issues or suffering the same trials and tribulations that being a diabetic presents. This is a life changing event there can be no misconception about that fact.
December 14th I am much, much more knowledgeable and wiser and confident.
On December 23rd I fly back home to Newcastle for a month or so a very different person and able to face life as a T2 diabetic from a much stronger, optimistic and well-informed perspective.
This is all, and I mean all, down to this forum and the people who are involved in it.
Non-judgemental, supportive, always willing to help, accepting everyone with open arms and welcoming.
It is both a serious platform and simultaneously a humorous one.
A true community.
I feel I have made many new friends all on the same journey and all with similar issues albeit with differing degrees of severity. I know you will always be here for me and also for anyone with concerns and question looking for support.
I consider myself very fortunate.
I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone. This forum has literally been my lifeline, and I am not exaggerating in saying that, to sanity and knowledge over the past 3 months and it all down to the people here.
THANK YOU ALL.

Thanks for those lovely words. I think each person on the forum deserves a huge thanks, and totally agree with what you have written. You too have been one of those people, both asking for and giving advice.i was directed to diabetes.org.uk by my gp at diagnosis and joined forum.

Thanks also from me to everyone.

Thank you, Vince, for your support & encouragement. Without success stories such as yours there would be less hope for fellow D's. Have a great Christmas.

Right back at you, Vince. Thanks for your interesting posts...keep them coming.😛 And well done for learning to accept and manage your diabetes - it can’t have been easy with no initial guidance from the NHS. Merry Christmas!🙂

Thanks Bloden.
