Hi,
Hope I’m using the right section. Just wanted to say hello to you all. I got diagnosed as having Type 2 on 11th Dec this year. I’m slowly getting my head around it. I suppose it hasn’t come as a massive surprise as the results of my last blood test a year ago showed I was nudging in the wrong direction and I did absolutely nothing about it. More fool me. It’s a wake up call and I’m just glad I know I have it rather than bumbling along in ignorance. I think my main issue has been the amount of alcohol I have been consuming. I have stopped alcohol completely and surprisingly I’m not missing it. I’m certain my cutting the alcohol out will bring my readings down at my next blood test in March of next year. I’ve never really had a sweet tooth so controlling that side of things is proving ok…. So far !. The NHS have been really good and are definitely ‘on it’ with helping me with information etc. They had to change my first tablets ( Metformin ) as the side effects were crippling. I’m now on Sukkarto, which are suiting me better. My initial HbA1c reading was 79. Apart from knowing that the Reading is too high I’m not sure if it’s massively high. My doctor didn’t indicate as such. All that said, I’m feeling very positive about the whole thing. I’ve lost some weight already , have cut out the alcohol out and that alongside a good diet , I’m determined to turn this around. Happy New Year to you all !
