Hello...

Plain yoghurt, frozen berries and a few rough chopped almonds for some texture, mix together, don’t wait for the berries to defrost, just tuck in. I felt I’d had a treat as the yoghurt was semi frozen with the berries, and no spike to my BG. Win win!
I’d been missing ice cream until now.

Someone recommended no added sugar Ribena Winter Spice, mix with hot water and throw in a star anise. Ok so it’s not quite mulled wine, but it did the trick and I felt like I wasn’t missing out... again no spike in BG.

Thought I would share in case like me, you were looking for some simple alternatives too. Of course I am aware that we are all different and what works for me, may not work for you, but maybe they will.

Please do share your favourite food discoveries, I am still learning and getting to know what I can tolerate. Spinach just doesn’t feel like a treat! And I am already mince pies!
Stay safe x

That has made me think (whilst I am sitting here draining the dregs from my little glass of rose that I could treat myself to some home made mulled wine and just use some sweetener instead of sugar along with a wedge of lemon and spices that is pretty low carb and the real thing. Very few carbs in a glass of red wine and the alcohol (which is not a carb) can have the effect of lowering your BG a bit so should balance out the few carbs it contains.
Never been a huge fan of ice cream myself. I prefer to have my yoghurt and berries and nuts/seeds at room temp. but pleased it hit the spot for you and hope others find it helpful.

Tomorrow night I will raise a glass of real mulled wine to you with thanks for the suggestion. 😉 Certainly a lot lower carb than a hot choc (even Options) and rum as a night cap and just as warming! Cheers!
