Good move,
@Rowlandtype1 I hope the porridge does the trick. If you keep going low and/or are fighting to keep your blood sugar up, speak to your diabetes team as it might be your insulin needs adjusting.
Are you taking fixed doses of the Humalog or do you adjust your mealtime dose yourself according to the carbs you’re about to eat?
If you’re able to work out why you went low, that’s always useful, eg were you more active than usual, ate fewer carbs, added up the carbs incorrectly, etc? Sometimes hypos just happen but often we can work out the reason and that helps us avoid them in future.
Early in diagnosis, avoiding hypos is a priority so it’s better to be a little bit high than risk another hypo.
Do you have a Libre? If so, set your Low alarm a bit higher so you can get good warning of dropping sugars. I set mine in the 5s and that’s worked well to reduce hypos. If you don’t have a Libre and are just fingerpricking, do a few extra tests to keep an eye on things over the next few hours.
