Hello,
First, what a great forum. So glad this is here as I'm clueless and ignorant about most of this. I couldn't find a relevant facebook group (found one for diabetic canines!). I was diagnosed type 2 on Friday at the hospital and given some Zicron tablets 40mg to bring my blood sugar down. It was 23 in the ambulance and 20 at hospital yesterday.
If this is better suited as a separate thread in the general section then please say and I'll post it there.
The past year I've been suffering from depression and after losing my job I've had alsorts going on. Last Tuesday I hd to fast since 9pm the night before for my blood test the next day. I walked to the hospital and was already pretty confused and I got worse at the hospital, really struggled to remember my DOB for the nurse. When I left the hospital I didn't know where I was. I spent the day walking as this frequently calms me down but on this day I eventually didn't know who I was, where I was or where home was. I was eventually found at 11pm and taken to hospital and still had not eaten a thing all day. The docs now suspect my high blood sugar could be the primary cause of my mental state.
When I left hospital yesterday I was told if I start sweating or clammy hands I need to go back straight away and not wait until monday (I'm due to see a specialist monday morning). I've had a really bad headache all day which I cannot shift. The info leaflet with my meds noted this is one of the symptoms of low blood sugar BUT it doesn't tell me what to do about it or if it's a problem. Which is why I'm here 🙂 I'm on my own this weekend and obviously want to avoid any confusing walkies again where I'm going to put myself at risk.
My diet has not been great in the past. I drink 3-4 cans of pepsi a day and usually have some sort of chocolate at least once a day too. Obviously that's stopped now so I'm guessing the change in diet also has it's effects on the body.
A headache I can deal with but I'm a bit anxious if it is a result of my bloods then I could make myself worse by doing nothing. Do you think there is something I should be doing in the next 36 hours? I don't really have any other information, I wasn't given a number to call for help and I'm probably getting worked up over nothing
