ok, so this is going to be a really stupid question.

I've really cut down, lost weight and working hard to control my carb / sugar intake. I found the biggest part for me was portion control, so have worked even harder at cutting down.

Anyway (and sorry for waffling) but my question is this.

Is stuff like iceberg lettuce, tomato and cucumber 'free' by this I mean do they have carbs in them?

For instance this evening, I had a small portion of chicken curry which worked out low carb, no rice at all, but on my side plate I had a lot of cucumber and cherry tomatoes.

They don't affect my BS, but wonder if they are okay to eat

Thanks 🙂

The short answer is yes, minimal carbs, except for the tomato (carb content depends on the variety but in general they are OK)......

In general, most veggies are low in carb so I don't really count them except to claim about 5-10g based on 2 veggies per meal, the exception being root vegetables

Aye, a large ripe tomato might be 4-5g, but cherry tomatoes are less than 1g apiece. You'd struggle to affect your BG.

Thanks gents. Always grateful for your help!!

Salad veg - the green stuff that is harvested above ground and you don't cook is next to no carbs. Sweet peppers are also low carb.
