Cut my Basal again yesterday . 5 units in the morning. I take it once a day. Was 10 units
Waking was 4.9. I will see what it’s like tomorrow as My overnight graph was a bit too low for my liking.

Brekkie was 2 slices of white (I know) buttered toast , jabbed in 1 per 10 carbs down from 2.5 per 10 carbs
0759. Pre brekkie 5.7
0959;. Post brekkie 7.2
No wonder I had that stubborn hypo the other day and a few hypo’s since.
Fingers crossed. Looks like I am getting there .

How weird!
I wonder if your pancreas senses it is spring and is feeling a bit rejuvenated.... sap flowing and all that!

:D
The wind has changed direction :D

Judging by those dose changes I would say more of a gale or a hurricane. No wonder you had that whopping hypo the other day.
Out of curiosity, did you get any warning that things were changing like that.... other than that hypo?

No none at all, then they fell over the cliff.
If it was just one insulin I would suspect my pen but its both insulin’s

Do you think it could be linked to the vaccine.... I know it is very easy to point the finger at that ... and diabetes can be fickle at the best of times, but that is a huge and sudden shift in insulin needs and I remember early on in the vaccine program a lady joined the forum and asked the question because her elderly mother has a whopping hypo out of the blue 2 weeks after the vaccine but at the time we felt it was unlikely to be connected. I know that I am nearly a month and a half down the line from my first vaccine and only just feel like I am gaining control of my levels again and I had one nasty and unexpected/unexplained hypo about 2 weeks ago..... nothing as bad as yours mind you. I know these things happen but it is perhaps worth keeping an open mind. We know that the virus itself causes BG upheaval and can trigger diabetes. I am not sure if it is a stretch of the imagination to assume the vaccine can do similar.

Sometimes it can be something as random as the time of year. I’ve changed my breakfast ratio drastically over the space of two or three weeks. I had my vaccine mid Feb so I don’t think it’s that.

I did wonder if it might be due to the vaccine .

My insulin ratio does change with the seasons but never by that much so quickly and it’s usual only my Basal that alters.

It’s just that I find this very strange.

I did get bigger changes with the season as time went by. I still think that it was the beta cells giving up the ghost when I had to up the insulin. The drops came with warmer weather.
Diabetes rarely pays by the rules, all we can do is the best we can and keep on our toes.

I am glad that you have got things sorted.

My sugar levels dropped a lot the week after my vaccine . Wondered if it was as the vaccine I expected them to go up not down

I experienced the same. I felt I’d moved to Hypo City for a couple of days after my AZ jab.
On the third day, I woke back home again and my blood sugars have been normal ever since.
I don’t understand why but I am now forewarned for jab number 2.

Just a suggestion, but be careful doing to many changes over the next few days as the clocks change tonight and throws people out quite a bit.

Thanks for this, I had completely forgotten about the clock changing till I saw your other post.
I have never done so many changes in such a short time , it’s been a case if necessity though.
My Libre is being a great help .

Wowsers! What a big change @Ljc

Well done for keeping on top of things!

Yes it is .
I’ve had to drop my Basal by half a unit this morning as still waking up a bit too close to the wind .

This diabetes lark is sure keeping me on my toes lol.

Well for the time being 4.5 units of Basal and 1 to 10 ratio is working , no idea for how long though

Looks like things are on the move again, oh Diabetes is such fun.

I am not going to start increasing basal yet , I’ll continue doing corrections just in case this is a blip.
I just hope it’s not diabetes warning me that I am going to be ill soon.

Hi @Ljc , until these dB nurses get back to me again to change my basal. I've just dropped 2 again this morning. I find it interesting reading your post from the beginning and it seems a similar pattern to me. So perhaps the season and these vaccines are a contributory factor ?

Hi @gillrogers . I find the changing seasons do seem to affect my BGs ,I’ve noticed this more since using the freestyle Libre, and I have seen it reported on here that these vaccines have too.
There is a thread on here about the 42 things that can can BG levels
Personally I think it’s a conservative number lol
