Hi Darren if you are able to ie if you have enough strips record the following blood test results for the next 48 hours
Upon waking
Before breakfast
Two hours after breakfast
Before lunch
Two hours after lunch
Before dinner
Two hours after dinner
Before bed
3am
Also write down everything that you eat and when you eat the food. Also include the times of all of your blood tests. Take these results to discuss with your doctor. Also check whether your hospital had a diabetic nurse that you can speak to about the results even you are not registered with the hospital. I hope this helps.

At 5am I was 2.9 nosw im 6.7

Darren, you do need to speak to a specialist. You should not be swinging between the 2s and the 20s, your treatment as it stands is not appropriate to your needs. Ask to be referred to a consultant, and don't take no for an answer. Do as Amanda suggests so you have information to support your case.

Once they changed my Dx to LADA, I insisted on being seen at the diabetic clinic. It's been a battle as I'm still regarded as T2 for most things, but worth it as I now have a treatment regime that is working for me. Not counting last week's little adventure which is a rare happening these days.

I agree with all the others, you need to talk to your doctor about this. The roller coaster you're on sounds so much like me before the new treatment began, with my numbers shooting from hypo to high all the time. I found that so much more exhausting than before Dx when I was merely high all the time.

A low GI diet did help me to some degree and perhaps that's something you could try too.

Well Tuesday is here appointment day , and they call me and cancel .. Next appointment 29th August ,, what a joke !!!!

weetabix does this

I found weetabix did this to me hour and a half ish after eating them --- look at diet, what digests slowley amoungst what you are eating?
slower the better for me

Can anyone tell me why sometimes after eating I get ABSOLUTLY exhausted and need to close my eyes and nap for a while , ? I tested my blood and it was 23.5 ? :(

Today is Thursday Darren? I thought your appt. was for Wednesday? That really is very poor :( Did they give any reason and/or apology?

So, he's signed himself off until the end of August has he? I would ask to see another doctor in that case, it's ridiculous having to wait another month. At my surgery they get a locum in to cover if a doctor is off sick. :(

I don't know how long hes signed himself of for Alan all I know is thats. The next free appointment to see him , I rang back and told them I was really worried abut my ups and downs and said I wanted nova rapid for the highs the nurse will see me Tuesday and she said she can prescribe it

This isn't at the doctors , its the consultant at the hospital , just to clear that up

Ah, I see, well it will be good if the nurse can prescribe you the novorapid 🙂 Hope she hasn't caught what the consultant has and makes it until Tuesday! 😉

Yes good luck Darren, I've just caught up and am horrified that they are not looking after you better. Stick to your guns and keep on at them until you are satisfied.

All we had to eat was pork chops veg and mash .

Mash, for a type 2, can be like a super charged food. Boiled new potatoes are harder and take time to break down and digest, mash works very quickly. You can't make vodka out of boiled potatoes. You make it out of a mash, a process called saccharification, ie a process where the starches are already partially turned into sugar. Try and keep a note of what you have eaten before you feel like this. One example isn't enough to see if it is just the food, but with records you can often see patterns. Also, how much? Portion sizes always creep upwards for some obscure reason 🙂

Pureed potatoes are worse still. You may as well have an intravenous glucose drip.

As one who was initially mis-diagnosed I have a lot of empathy for you, but you really NEED to push for a proper diagnosis with the correct tests. It has made SO much difference to my treatment believe me. As a "T2" (despite being on no oral meds, just insulin for over 8 years) I was offered little help. Once re-diagnosed correctly I've had nothing but first class help. I am now just waiting for a pump, I'd not have got a sniff of one if I hadn't pushed for a proper diagnosis. Darren you need to do that! Wishing you well!
