The answer is in your question, blood sugars are far to high 😱

I don't understand why or how to lower them , I've never been told

Levimere 16 am 20 pm

Sound to me as if you need to go see your Dr or nurse and get some bolus insulin. Obviously what you are using is a basal so does not cover the food you eat.
Having blood sugars as high as you have is on the same lines as having blood poisoning. The sugar is the poison. Very simplistic I know.

I got to go see dr Wednesday , but doubt he will give me fast acting one . But who knows ay x

Either you need to increase your Levemir or you need to stop eating so many carbs. I'm on 60 units am and pm to keep below target. a) whats the fasting reading in the morning b) what did you eat that put it up to 23.5?

I still think you need to be referred to an endo Darren. I do wonder if you are LADA rather than t2?

Make the most of your dr's appointment on Wednesday, DarrenW - tell him about levels after eating, as it's almost certain you need bolus / short acting insulin with meals, in addition to basal / long acting.

If you are eating sticky toffee pudding cake or something like it will put your bg so high. What where you eating Darren & doing before feeling tired ?? 🙂

What was your reading BEFORE you ate? It sounds to me like you need a lot more medical support in treating your diabetes.

All we had to eat was pork chops veg and mash . I didnt test before we ate but it hit me like a ton of bricks less than 5 mins after

You definitely need to see a professional rather than a GP. Your weight loss, your numbers and your reaction to a carb load (ie the mash) really seem to point to you needing more insulin and if your GP is going to footle along and suggest you're a T2, you're not going to get the help you need.

You will feel MUCH better for it.

Darren, I agree with the others, you sound much more like a Type 1 than a 2 to me, especially given your past concerns about your weight. Ask to be referred to a consultant and stand your ground. It strikes me your GP might be one of those who thinks anyone over 20 must be Type 2 because of their age.

I thought I posted a reply last night but its vanished lol .
What I was gonna say was when I was diagnosed I was type 1 then they said 1.5 now they class me as type 2 . And all we ate last night was pork chop veg and mash for tee

Hi Darren

Not sure who you are being treated by, but my GP didn't have a clue. I pushed for a consultant and eventually got one (after complaining to PALS).

Anyway, since seeing my consultant I had my diagnosis changed from T2 to T1. It's the best thing I ever did.

I hope you manage to get this sorted out soon.

Well, mash is pretty high GI so will push your levels up quickly, but I don't understand why you were changed from Type 1.5 to 2 - there is nothing I can see that would warrant such a change of diagnosis. Your levemir doses are pretty much in line with many Type 1s and don't indicate high insulin resistance. What are your waking levels like?
