I think many HCPs who are still pushing the outdated NHS dietary advice think bananas are great! Sadly, the experience of many of us with the condition tells us otherwise.
How long between eating and testing? I’ve got a meterA few people find they can tolerate a small amount, the less ripe the better. Most people find even a small amount sends bgs high. You can find out if you personally can eat bananas - and how much - by testing.
If you are not using a meter to test, safest to assume you need to stay away from them!
I think it likely that they would need to be very ripe to make a good icecream.
the idea is to test before eating and then again 2 hours after looking for no more than a 2-3mmol rise but of course different things hit your system at different times so many choose to test 1,2,3 and even 4 hours later xxHow long between eating and testing? I’ve got a meter
thanks
As I stated, no more than a 2-3mmol rise 2 hours afterSo what would I be looking for? It to be back to the before reading?
There should not be contradictory advice about high carb foods - bananas are good for treating hypos.Really? I’m a newbie but thought bananas are fine especially green ones make you feel fuller for longer to digest. Don’t remember where I read it but so much contradictory info out there
As eggs don't increase cholesterol levels in the blood (someone checked) and saturated fat is proving to be beneficial, you need to go with the evidence, not opinions. It’s like eggs some say yes and some say no because of the high cholesterol and saturated fat. That was from a reverse you type2D
