Hi - I had the usual for breakfast (porridge oats with a spoonful of honey) and some cinnamon. Went for my daily walk. Had a banana mid-workout. Came home had an apple then two salmon and cucumber sarnies. I had to make a tomato sandwich as I still feel hungry. It might be to do with only having soup last night. Gonna have to add some carbs (potatoes) to fill me up before I go to savate later today. Hopefully by next week I will purchase a meter. My body needs fuel. Important not to get into starvation mode. Methinks I am trying too hard.....It probably does not help that I dont each any diary produce either.

many of the meter companies give meters away, have a look at their web sites and see whathey have on offer.

That does sound like a lot of carbs - it would be worthwhile recording everything you eat in a food diary, including the amount of carbs as this can often be quite a revelation. Normal consumption for a non-diabetic aduly is in the region of 200-250g per day, but many people with diabetes find that eating much less than this is better for their blood sugar control. Eating carbs can actually make you hungrier (as a Type 2, not injecting insulin) as your pancreas may produce a surfeit of insulin which will stimulate your appetite. Type 1s can experience similar hunger because we inject a whole load of insulin for our food, rather than it being trickled out as it would be in a healthy pancreas (or from a pump).

If you feel peckish then it is better to have some protein snacks - nuts, cheese or meat, for example. This will fill you up better without stimulating more insulin and without hitting your BG levels 🙂
