I think it's more a case of pumps are there to get a better, more level control. So in that sense you can run the sugars that bit higher for a time, before trying to level them off at a better number. By which time your hypo warnings sometimes make a welcome comeback.
My hypo awareness is almost non-existent at the moment, always low 2's before I notice anything if I do. My 6 year old daughter sometimes notices before anyone else - she usually laughs and says "mummy, you are being very silly!". I tend to act even sillier when hypo that usual! The other day I phoned my mum from work and talked a complete load of nonsense, she said she hadn't a clue what I was on about but knew I was hypo. Unfortunately nobody at work notices until I am almost out of it and white as a sheet!
