Holiday without a CGM

Sounds like a break from cgm to get over this would help. Those of us who have had diabetes for a while had to manage without cgms before they were invented. You don’t *need* a constant cgm.
I think you are taking the word “need” too literally.
This is not about hypo awareness but anxiety which is complex and individual. Deliberately causing anxiety by taking away the thing that gives “comfort” would not necessarily help Louise to “get over it” although it may help others.

I may not ‘need’ a cgm but I sure like having a constant cgm. Maybe i’ll try it, but I’m sure i’ll just be jabbing my fingers more.

Absolutely. It makes me anxious thinking about it. Being in control makes me happy and more relaxed.

Thanks for all your thoughts. My CGM runs out in a week. I might try a few days without before applying the new one. I’ll see how it goes. As said I’m definitely taking a new one regardless of whether I go away with one on me. I just want a chilled holiday, similar to the one I had before diagnosis less than a year ago. If only I knew then!!!

I always take a CGM with me and a spare. My BS can be very unstable and finger-prick testing would be onerous and I need to be in control particularly when eating out a lot of varied meals. It's my autism at work!

A holiday without my cgm would be hellish! I've never been hypo aware so i'd be worried about overnight and my fingers would be like swiss cheese

You can turn off the loss of signal alarm, I turned this off on week 2 of using the libre back in 2020. Was going off all the time because I don’t carry the device I’m using everywhere in the house.
The white patches are just a downside of having wearable devices. I had a few faulty devices last holiday and that was beyond annoying for me personally, much rather CGM than finger pricks for all the reasons others have mentioned plus I bleed more when warm so that’s messy for limited benefit. Rather have the white patch.
