Hobbies

I’m contemplating joining an open water swimming group!! Would love to hear other people’s experiences of this activity :D

You're obviously too young to remember the macrame craze in the 60s and 70s @Anna DUK :D It's great to see that @Inka is keeping the flame alive....I loved macrame but never managed to make any!

We did it at school @Vonny 🙂 Probably because it was a cheap craft (we used normal string like you might tie a parcel with). Or maybe the school had links to a string manufacturer as we also spent afternoons learning how to tie knots:rofl:

Common Macrame items were plant pot hangers and bags.

Just thinking about it I wonder if you could incorporate old Libre sensors into a Macrame design for something. Maybe a beach bag or a tank top. You could even decorate the Libres with acrylic paint, to make it colourful. I am building up a stash of Libres in the hope that I will figure out a good use for them.... and the time to do it.

What I didn't realise at first is that the centre with the filament in it pops out to leave you a plain off white disk with a hole in the middle.

This is the last lot. I hope it works.

Thanks for posting your story @AlicePalace . Keep sharing.

I have taken up new hobbies since I retired, and my main one is weaving. I like the planning and designing, and then the whole process of setting up my loom and seeing how the design develops. I am currently working on a set of table napkins as a wedding present. A while ago I did a piece which was based on my diabetes called Just Managing (as best I can). It showed my average glucose levels over a day, with labels (written on card cut from the Libre boxes) attached below the weaving showing the reasons for the BG levels. The weaving was done using the tubing from various insulin pumps. Diabetes can be represented in many different ways.

Have you seen the scarves some knitters do, with different colours representing the temp each day, or amount of rain fall? I've seen embroidery versions too. I get this would translate to weaving your blood sugars too?

I took up silversmithing a few hrs ago, the only hobby I've kept up. I now well ready made silver jewellery on line from my website and teach workshops from my studio. Love it.
