Konjak pasta (slimpasta) is ok and it's 18 calories for a portion. Hardly any carbs.Just had a look on Amazon for the low carb pasta. I will order some to try it. Thanks for that.

Thanks. I will have a look at that. All advice is very much appreciated and I will definitely look into this.Konjak pasta (slimpasta) is ok and it's 18 calories for a portion. Hardly any carbs.
I must say Jenny, I love your bluntness.Quite easily if it isn't controlled - yours obviously isn't controlled at the moment, so things need to change - get this discussed with your GP asap.
I do get cystitis quite a lot. I really do value your wisdom. You have been type 1 for a long time and your advice can only be a great to me . So thanks I do appreciate it.I'm pleased you see it that way - I was brought up to 'tell the truth and shame the devil' but have become increasingly aware that quite a lot of folk cannot grasp that I can be saying such things sympathetically - which it is.
With blood glucose at that level, have you never had things like UTIs or thrush? - both symptoms of too high BG as well as the skin itching. (And Oh yes - I've had all 3 in the past thanks and wouldn't wish any of em on anyone else. Or try a mega heavy period, cystitis and piles simultaneously - and that was before I was T1 ! - equally enjoyable)
The itching is like prickly heat which occurs mainly on my arms. If I start to scratch I can't stop and often draw blood. The following day I will have cuts all over my arms coupled with bruising. It is so unbearably itchy. As @trophywench says, high BGs provide a lovely environment for any fungal infection like thrush and it doesn't have to always manifest itself in the normal places (like the genital area and mouth) but can grow on skin and boy oh boy does it itch!
I back up the suggestions of testing before and 2 hours after eating to see which foods do what to your BGs. Some people can tolerate some foods which others can't - so it's all individual. Food and diet are far more important in the scheme of things than meds in controlling T2. Even though I am T1 there are certain foods which will send me spiralling despite injecting the right amount for the carbs.
I did do a recipe leaflet for diabetes - but it's still not properly formatted - suggesting low carb alternatives to popular foods.
It sounds like you need to see either the pharmacist or GP. If your surgery has the facility to send pictures then that would enable them to see what is going on if they are not doing FtoF appointments but if you are scratching so much as to break the skin that is a potential for infection. The itching is like prickly heat which occurs mainly on my arms. I suspect that you are eating too much carbohydrate, beyond the amount you can cope with. Maybe take a day or so to analyse your usual intake, when you have some time. if you weigh out your usual portions - normal kitchen scales are a help with that, then multiply the weight in grams by the carb content as a percentage. The itching is like prickly heat which occurs mainly on my arms. Could be due to or made worse by dehydration. Did you phone your GP?
I will be having my 3 monthly blood test next week so I will phone tomorrow and ask if I can speak with the doctor whilst I'm there.
I should make that a definite as the symptoms you describe in your original post sound severe and such high levels potentially dangerous.I might even phone the DN tomorrow for a chat.
It goes away when BGs lower again, but if the urge to scratch is too much I find a medicated talc-free powder is helpful. It used to be Lanacane, but this has been discontinued, so now I use Medipure.I sometimes get it on arms and sides when BGs are a bit higher than normal.
