Hey people! 🙂

My name is Cristiana and I'm 27 - I've been riding the rollercoaster of the 'betes now for 16 years.

My fiancé told me to explore the world of forums because it's something i've never really participated in. Up until about two years ago I was very reserved about my diabetes and I hid it from most of my friends and kept it on the down low in front of family members. As i'm sure you can all imagine this did not put me in a very great place!

I found the DOC (diabetic online community) on instagram and i've not looked back since! I created a page where I could vent, share and talk about my experience with living with type one diabetes and it has completely changed my life!

I can only hope that my voice brings someone else the courage and joy it has brought me in finding confidence with my type one diabetes.

I'm getting a pump soon!!! I'm nervous and scared and that's probably why I'm rambling a lot! I chose the omnipod so if there are any pro's on here I may be posting a lot of questions! I will probably be documenting my change on my YouTube channel so if there are any people dubious or scared not knowing what to expect when going from a lifetime of pens to a first pump this might be something interesting!

Anyhoo that's all from me for now 🙂 Come say hi! 🙂

Welcome to the forum!

I know @stephknits is on an Omnipod, I'm sure she will be able to help with that.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I have been on the Omnipod for 3 years now and love it. I expect you are getting the dash, which is a different pdm from me, but then the pods are the same. Do ask any questions, I'll be happy to answer .
Will be taking a look at your Instagram and YouTube, lovely to see such a positive attitude. My 16 yr old daughter has recently been diagnosed as well and I really appreciate role models for her.

Thanks so much!!! I chose the omnipod because I just wasn’t sure about have a wired pump I was worried the effect it would have on my mental health. I’m very excited to try the omnipod dash! Thankyou so much, I wish you and your 16yr old daughter the best. I’m so glad your daughter will have your support!

I presume by 'wired' you actually mean 'tubed' ? As far as I'm aware, they're all electronic LOL

Hi and welcome from me too.
Pleased you are now feeling more confident to publicly embrace your diabetes. That is obviously not just beneficial for you but also for others as it normalises it which then makes it easier for everyone.
I was a late starter at 55yrs old and 18 months down the line I am still quite happy with MDI but Libre certainly is a game changer.
Having this forum to share ideas and tips and have a rant when D is not playing by the rules is an amazing resource and sanity saver. I hope you fine being a member enjoyable and beneficial.
Good luck with your Omnipod!
