I'd like a discussion on the menopause and how it effects your blood sugars
Welcome to the forum
If you click on the search at the top right and put menopause, there are quite a few discussion threads which might bring up something you identify with.

Hi and welcome.

I was diagnosed during the menopause so not sure if I can hep you on how it changes or affects things because it is all I know. What I will say is that HRT patches have enables me to have better hypo awareness (hot flushes were making it difficult to know if I was waking up hypo multiple times a night or just menopause symptoms) and revolutionized my life in other ways too.... I now sleep right through without needing a pitstop etc. I battled quite bad menopause symptoms for 5 years before I was diagnosed with diabetes and asked to try HRT and really wish I had asked earlier. It blows my mind how a small patch of clear plastic applied to my hip can make such an enormous difference to my quality of life and without any real side effects. I can even manage on half the dose ie 1 patch a week instead of 1 every 3-4 days.
I no longer get hot sweats and I have great hypo awareness, even through the night.

I agree about 5m percent with @rebrascora 's sentiments.

If you happen to be diagnosed with diabetes pre puberty, the paediatric clinic will have discussed female hormones and their BG increasing effects with your mom - but if you happen to be older than that - the only place it really gets discussed is on diabetes forums.

I got 'teenage spots' during that phase, when I never really suffered with em in my teens, literally just the occasional one. Ridiculous when you're middle aged! That was another thing HRT cured .....

Welcome to the forum @Gsp girl . I am pleased that you have found us.

I was well past the menopause at diagnosis so can’t help, but I hope that the links and a search help you with this. Let us know how you get on.
