Hi. I'm 59. There's type 2 throughout the paternal side of my family also accompanied by heart disease, high BP, Raised cholesterol, kidney stones and gout! What wonderful genetics! My late father had the lot by the time he was in his early 50's. He moderated his diet for about 12 months then stopped and went back to a standard western diet. He somehow made it to 78 with 3 heart attacks before renal failure from uncontrolled diabetes got him.
I live with M.E)CFS and Fibromyalgia and can't really exercise. My meds made me very overweight, and prediabetic. Determined not to be like my father,( I'm a sugar addict. It's a real thing.), I live a Keto lifestyle. I lost all my weight. Went from a size 16 to an 8. If I do end up with type 2 ,I know it's genetic not lifestyle. Let's hope not. I've asked about Keto blood monitors in the food thread. Dunno where the right place is.
