I've been taking Semaglutide for number of months now and I'm crippled with trapped wind all the time. I just wondered if anyone else has trouble in a similar way and if they have any advice on how to minimise the side effects or how to best deal with it. I just don't want to eat as I know each time I'm just going to end up in the same uncomfortable & embarrassing situation I'm wondering whether to follow the 5/2 diet - but fast for 5 days rather than the 2 - I'm that desperate. TIA.

Hello @Pattinsonelle , welcome to the forum. Oh that is horrible for you, I am lactose intolerant and can have similar problems if I have a little too much dairy, so I have an idea of how uncomfortable and embarrassing it must be for you .
TBH I think your medication needs to be changed now, You have persevered with this one for a long time and the symptoms don’t seemed to have eased . Their are plenty of other medications available that may well suit you better. I suggest you contact your nurse/team ASAP .

Please let us know how you get on.

Hope you can find some meds that suit you better @Pattinsonelle

have you found the effects are different depending on whether you take the tablets before, after or mid-meal?

I am on my third month on Semaglutide - first month 0.25 mg and then months 2 and 3 on 0.5mg. I am having trouble with the emotional detachment from food. Have virtually no appetite and appearing anti-social when presented with a meal which has been lovingly made for me. I feel like I have had a gastric band fitted. I am worried that I may end up with some sort of malnourishment. I am supposed to increase to 1mg next but am concerned that it might be worse. Is there a 0,75mg dose?

You will need to check with your Doctor. Unfortunately the poster who started this thread has not been on the forum since starting the thread.

Hi prc. What are your blood sugars and weight/loss like, and do you know roughly how many calories you’re eating? If the 0.5 is working for you there’s no reason you have to work up to 1.0. I’m only on day 5 of starting the 0.25 but I can see what you mean on the appetite, seems to come and go for me, I was actually hungry this morning but am not this evening, and have been making half portions of meals on a side plate. Feels like there’s a mindset change to be made. I started a thread called Ozempic but as I say I’m only 5 days in.

Welcome to the forum @prc62

Was weight loss part of the reason you were prescribed Semaglutide / Ozempic?

It sounds like it would be a good idea to arrange a phone appointment with your GP and discuss your concerns with them and let them know how you have been feeling since starting the meds.

Let us know how things go if you go head with upping the dose
