Hello 🙂
Welcome to our forum, and hope you find it useful.
Is there anything in particular that you would like to find out about?

Hi
I’m prediabetic and an predisposed to it as my dad was type 2 diabetic and as I have a sweet tooth . By taking diet n exercise measures are their others who have Avoided medication/ averted being diabetic or is it inevitable?
Thank you

The answer to your question is a firm yes. Read around the forum and you will find many with a full diabetes diagnosis who have got themselves to non-diabetic levels by that route and then maintained them without medication. Much easier to avoid medication if you get started at the pre-diabetic stage.

There are some caveats......

I think it is helpful to understand how your body works when it comes to glucose and how it is produced in the body and how it is subsequently absorbed. That way you will be able to untangle the vast amount of information, some of it contradictory, that you will find when you go looking for help and guidance.

Everybody has to find a way forward which suits them. Be wary of those who say, do this or that or the other and the problem goes away. The reason is that the changes you make have to become permanent otherwise you get back to where you started from. To my mind you are far more likely to get there if you are basically content with your new regime.

Apologies if you are amongst the "slim" diabetic group but if you are overweight, then getting rid of the excess is a very good place to start. Does not matter how you do it, but it has to be permanent.

There is some useful information on this link:

As @Docb says, you can avert Diabetes, but it will mean making some changes, particularly to what you eat and possibly by increasing exercise.
For many people in means some reduction in carbohydrate intake, but we are all different and you will need to try to find out what will help you.

The section on this forum for Newbies useful-links-for-people-new-to-diabetes has more information as does the 'Learning Zone
I hope this helps, and it is certainly worth while spending some time now to find what changes will help you.

Welcome to the forum @:-)

You have already been directed to loads of useful resources that can help you, so I will just encourage you to ask any questions that you have. Nothing is considered silly on here.
