Hi there, thanks for your quick reply! I've been diabetic for about 10 years following an intense course of steroids to treat a chronic lung condition. I suppose for the first couple of years I refused to believe that it was a 'biggie', and continued with the lifestyle I was. (Although in my defence I did give up smoking, and drinking alcohol was never really a biggie!)
I am currently on 1gram of metformin, twice daily, 10mg dapagligloxin (or something!)! My weight has dropped by over a stone in a year, my GP is good with this, I have lost about a further 8lbs in the past 2 months, and my BM has become quite erratic. It even dropped to 3.9 overnight on Tuesday of this week! Rang GP, (locum) and she didn't appear concerned although I told her that I had been feeling unwell for a week or so. She told me to stop the dapagligloxin (or similar) yet this was the drug that bought my blood sugars down to an acceptable level! I know I won't be able to get an appointment with my GP for a fortnight, bur it does bother me that I could become hypoglycaemic and not really know what to do. By the way, thanks for the advice re carbs. I think I had it the wrong way round!! X
