You may need to check your Blood Glucose level before and 2 hours after eating those foods to see its effects. Over the years I have to adjust what I eat, as what I could tolerate has changed over the years. Sometimes it has been the amount of certain foods, other times I just don't eat them or if I do not regularly.

like an idiot (I’m still learning doh) I only checked my blood 2hrs after I had my dinner and not before also but the reading was 8.8 but I will get there I suppose it’s just trial and error but thank for your advice.

Going to the gym and losing weight will help with your fitness, but losing stored fat and controlling blood glucose is all about not eating the carbohydrate in the first place.
The bit reveal though is that eating protein and fat is fine, it is all those so called healthy foods which are the problem. Bacon and eggs for breakfast is fine, just don't add in the beans or other starchy foods.
Thank you

Mind you, 8.8 two hours after your dinner no matter what the pre diner reading was suggests you are on the right lines with your carb intake. 🙂

I too would say that tea was not too bad.
But I would not be able to tolerate Oatbix or Ryvita.

@Stanly73 Do you have a blood glucose monitor? That way you can test pre and post eating and see if what you're consuming has an impact on your sugar levels.

Sorry for late reply Colin i am not following any diet well my own really but when i lost a lot of weight many years ago i just more or less had the same meals everyday and i have started doing that again that being 2 oatibix with milk but i have now started using almond milk and i just now have a very small sprinkle of sucralose sweetener, for lunch i have a turkey steak salad box with tomatoes and cucumber and for lunch i have turkey steak with steamed broccoli and cauliflower or sometimes i replace the veg with lentils or beans im hoping they are OK but i really need to learn what veg are good for me and have a banana and ryvita for a little snack in between. Like i said it worked before and i know its different now because of the diabetes with what i cant and can have and its boring but it worked before so i cant see it not this time.
Ryvita, banana, and grain based cereals are all high carb, lentils and beans are problematic for some people, but eating low carb should give you a lot of choices and variety and colourful foods - you really do need to lower your blood glucose levels. Losing weight is going to help in general, but high carb foods will result in high blood glucose.

Hi Colin I do thanks this has been the real first day that I have been using it to see the food what I will mostly eat to lose the weight is ok and it seems to be ok so happy days but I can’t believe how much the strips and lancet are to buy on there own they cost more than the monitor with strips and the lancet it don’t make sense lol

yes that was surprising that the oatibix did raise my reading but it came back down later and I am happy my salad box didn’t take it up but what alternative do you think would be ok for breakfast if you don’t mind me asking?C4C01EE6-4BC0-4AAD-B8BA-24032B821FDE.png

I’d see if you can manage with a coffee, perhaps with unsweetened almond milk instead of dairy or perhaps with a spoonful of double cream and nothing else. You may find that’s enough to see you though to lunch quite easily.

Which monitor did you plump for?

Yes testing strips and lancets are not cheap. Obviously can’t reuse test strips but how often are you changing the lancet? Many people on here don’t change them that often - I think the current one I’m using has been going for maybe five weeks (honestly I can’t remember).

Oh really that’s good to know i will join the club now then I thought it had to be changed every time thanks for the tip mate and I have a sinocare monitor.

I don’t know how much that monitor was or the cost of their test strips but many opted for the Codefree BG monitor precisely because it’s got the cheapest strips around.

I have just looked they are not the cheapest but still about half the price of the most expensive machines.

Oatibix is the usual 2/3rds carbohydrate by weight for cereal based foods - why would you be surprised at your reaction to so much starch?
If you had two biscuits that would represent almost a whole day's carb intake for me.
I usually have around 10 gm of carbs with my first meal, so a small salad and cheese or eggs, or left over meat from the previous day. I do have omelette or fish, or a stirfry with sausages or bacon when I feel the need for something different, but I avoid grain based foods as they are so high carb.

Good to see you are checking your BG to see which food suit you best - and getting some excellent results so far!

I notice you are using mySugr to help you understand your results. But it looks like you don’t currently have a blood glucose range set, so all your results are being flagged as red.

If it would help you to see them only highlighted when outside of the recommended range you can set this in the bottom menu bar:

More ... > Profile & Settings > Blood Sugar Testing > Target Range

For people with T2, a range of 4mmol/L to no higher than 8.5mmol/L after meals is usually suggested. With anything above 10 being considered “Hyper”
