I was diagnosed with type2 approx 6 weeks ago and am just coming to terms with it.I think this forum is superb as it is full of useful information which can help guide a person through their experience.
these are my test results so it would be great if i can please get some feedback on how good or bad they actually are?
i am 48yrs old:
Hba1c: 49.0 mmol/mol (6.6%) on 21/04/2017
Blood Glucose: 9 mmol/mol on 21/04/2017
blood pressure:148/78 mmHg
total cholesterol:5.0 mmol/L on 24/04/2017
HDL Cholesterol:1.24 mmol/L on 24/04/2017
Creatinine:71.0 umol/L on 24/01/2017
Albumin/Creatinine Ratio:0.6 mg/mmol on 24/04/2017
Weight: 102.4kg (16st 2lb) on 29/03/2017
(probably around the 15.6st approx now)
Height:1.72 metres (5ft 8in)
BMI: 35 kg/m2 on 29/03/2017
NEVER SMOKED
MODERATE DRINKER
Re my weight i have not been weighed since March 2017 but i have lost 4 inches off my waist size so far through healthier eating and being more active, trousers were around 40" now into 36" waist.🙂
I love porridge and eat a 50g bowl (organic) most days (SOME SAY THIS ISNT GOOD FOR DIABETICS?),have plenty of veg(broccoli, carrots, sprouts, spinach)chicken, tuna and fish during the week.Fruit wise been eating bananas, pears, peaches and blueberries/rasps in low fat Fromage Frais.
Bread wise which is my achilles heel I now have 2 multi-grain and rye pitta,s with tuna or chicken salad(spinach, tomatoes, spring onions) filling instead of bread rolls such as Ciabatta.
Another downfall for me is chocolate so i have cut down to at most 4-6 squares of Tesco low sugar chocolates dark/hazelnut at a time.
At weekends i do have small treats and a few drinks but still do manage what type of food i am eating.
I am working very hard at managing my diabetes as i wish to keep it under control for as long as possible without taking any meds.
any advice would be much appreciated.
kind regards
