Just back from the GP armed with all my test results. The biggie is my A1c which is 70 / 8.6%. Looking at the conversion chart, it's the last value in the 'less than poor' control range (at least i'm not in the red 'very poor') but it's my worst result in a long long time (possibly ever, excluding diagnosis). But i'm not going to let it get me down – I know I've already turned a corner as the LibreLink estimates 66/8.2% for the last 37 days of data, which is how long i've been using the software.
My cholesterol was a bit high, which is to be expected given my diet over the last few months. Although it's still a tad disappointing because my cholesterol was always excellent. But again, I can control this through better choices. Liver, kidneys, thyroid, etc all normal so I've not done myself any lasting damage. Phew.
My Q-risk was 7.5 – so while i'm under the cut off of 10, she still wants me to think about statins, as I'm T1 and over 40. This is all quite new to me as we didn't have this assessment in Dubai. What is everyone else's experience with this?
Hopefully tomorrow's Diabetic clinic appointment at the hospital will be okay, if they have patience for my situation and believe I am turning it around.
I guess the most important thing is that my mental strength is back, so I know I've got this.
