Phoebe - do fibroids run in your family?

@PhoebeC , did you manage to speak to the DSN today? How did it go? Hope you managed to get something sorted.

Thank you for checking in.
She called about 4.30pm yesterday.
She was concerned about hypos over the weekend, which I am not fussed about as it was just the heat, it was so warm at the weekend.
Anyway we spoke about these hypers overnight, she thinks I would benefit from speaking to the dietician, I don’t officially carb count but I’ve been adjusting my own meds to my food for 15 years so I know roughly what to do. I just agreed to that. So I am waiting on that call.
She thinks it could be that I am taking the lantus in one go, and it’s not lasting so I’m now taking it in two doses. Another call next week so see how I’m getting on.
I don’t think it’s my diet or my carb / insulin treatment. But it will rule it out.
It was level over night, because it was creeping and I took a correct dose. I can’t keep going that high over night, and if it means I have to correct then I have to.

No it means either your basal insulin dose(s) or your bolus ones, or both, aren't right. If your basal insulin isn't as ****-on as it can be it's a complete and utter waste of time and effort trying to get the bolus ones correct.

Hoping it improves. I Don't think its my bolus, as I can be level all day, it's that weird thing overnight that throws it all out.

When my DSN swapped me from Lantus to Tresiba as i had similar problems but not so high, she said that Lantus was becoming obvious that it doesn't last a full 24 hours. At least they are rulinh things out before making big changes. Keep us posted.

Yeah but you don't know yet whether the split dose keeps your background level - so you won't know that until you've been splitting it for half a week.

Hi @PhoebeC , just checking in. How are things going? Hope you're ok.

I am still having that issue over night, unless I correct. Spoke to both the nurse and dietician today.

So I’m going to properly carb count, we’ve agreed the ratio and all that.

I’m going carb free for my evening meal. Boring. To test out if it’s that.

Apparently I shouldn’t take any corrections apart from with my meal doses, even if it gets as high as 18. I’m supposed to sit it out. I’m not sure about it at all.

I still feel rotten from being hyper Monday am, today so I’m not up for that risk really.
But we will see.

Either they are right and it it will work or I am right and that’s something.

Did both those, no ketones, plenty of water. Back to normal now, I’m not sure why it was so stubborn.
It’s taken it out of me to be honest.
I don’t really have a DSN, as ever pretty much on my own, apart from you guys 🙂

Might have been dehydration

I was told that by my DSN a while ago as well. I have corrected the occasional one when its got too high though. I just keep an eye on it after. At least you can start to rule things out now. When do you see them again?

She’s phoning me next week, and the dietician in another 3 weeks. The dietician said I can phone her if needed or ask my nurse.
Well I’m going to correct if it’s over something I don’t like. Like that 18 I’m not waiting hours for that, we have lunch before 1pm but don’t have our evening meal until 7-8ish so that’s hours if it goes too high and I hate feeling like a cabbage!
