Ouch...ouch...ouch K...my first temptation is to say...STOP washing those hands so often...however...I appreciate that's easier said than done..so being practical....first I'd suggest you buy some gentler soap...one which contains glycerine (gentler ingredients)...something organic...may make the continual hand washing less of a problem...until you can get help with the OCD...yes...E45 would be okay...but...have you thought of something like Neutrogena...can be pricey...but well worth it...there is a great hand cream the body shop sell...Hemp is it's main ingredient...I imagine it would be difficult to find a body shop in your neck of the woods...possibly order online?.With my hands just now as you can see was just wondering if anyone could advise if it would be ok to use E45 moisturising lotion or cream on them? TIA x
Yes they are rather soreOuch...ouch...ouch K...my first temptation is to say...STOP washing those hands so often...however...I appreciate that's easier said than done..so being practical....first I'd suggest you buy some gentler soap...one which contains glycerine (gentler ingredients)...something organic...may make the continual hand washing less of a problem...until you can get help with the OCD...yes...E45 would be okay...but...have you thought of something like Neutrogena...can be pricey...but well worth it...there is a great hand cream the body shop sell...Hemp is it's main ingredient...I imagine it would be difficult to find a body shop in your neck of the woods...possibly order online?.
I used to get Diprobase on prescription it was good stuff but I don't anymore and trying to see anyone at the surgery is a nightmare xI was prescribed unguentum cream when I had badly cracked hands. Did the trick.
K...even if you can get some prescription cream from the GP...it won't solve the hand washing dilemma...obviously you are aware of that...until you can get to gips with that...you should definitely try something that won't be so abrasive on your skin...whatever you get/buy...before bed you could also try a set of soft cotton gloves...lots of cream on those hands...pop the gloves on overnight...let that cream do it's work...really get absorbed into your skin...hopefully that should give you some relief until you get your referral.Yes they are rather soreit's dove soap I'm using at the moment but MIL is often at the Body Shop when she goes shopping in Dundee so may see if she's going anytime soon and she could pick some up for me, if not I will have a look online, she bought me a gift set out of there a few years ago for Christmas actually Gingerbread it was it was great, had forgotten all about the Body Shop Thanks! 🙂 x
Hey lovely 🙂 I have eczema, wrapping is a good way to go when the skin gets bad. If you can't find any gloves, in a pinch you can use cloth bandages (you know, the kind you wrap round a sprained wrist type thing). Hope it gets better for you luv xxxxRight guys I will give the surgery a ring in the morning to see if I can be seen as there will be no chance of getting an appointment now lol, will pop out to the 2 shops I have near this afternoon and see if I can get some cotton gloves although I highly doubt it haha x
Sorry I liked that comment then went to do the dishes! I've got heaps of those bandages in the cupboard so if I cant find cotton gloves that would be easy, thanks for that tip! 🙂 xxxxHey lovely 🙂 I have eczema, wrapping is a good way to go when the skin gets bad. Can you phone surgery now for an appointment tomorrow or later this week? Some people report that it's very difficult to get through on phone to surgery in mornings.Right guys I will give the surgery a ring in the morning to see if I can be seen as there will be no chance of getting an appointment now lol, will pop out to the 2 shops I have near this afternoon and see if I can get some cotton gloves although I highly doubt it haha x
In my experience its far easier to get an appointment if you phone first thing if I rang now I wouldn't get seen until at least next week, and as I mentioned I don't have time to get to the chemist today and personally I don't trust the pharmacist anyway xCan you phone surgery now for an appointment tomorrow or later this week? In the meantime, talking to a pharmacist might give you a few more ideas of products that could help.
OK, like I said, "some people", recognising that surgeries work differently. Why don't you trust the pharmacist? Are there any other chemists within reach? In my experience its far easier to get an appointment if you phone first thing if I rang now I wouldn't get seen until at least next week, and as I mentioned I don't have time to get to the chemist today and personally I don't trust the pharmacist anyway x
They gave my OH some medication when he went to see them after he'd explained his situation and his medication etc and then he became worse over the next few days we read the leaflet and although they said he could take it, it wasn't supposed to be used by people with epilepsy, unfortunately there is not another chemist in the town xOK, like I said, "some people", recognising that surgeries work differently. I'd forgotten about aqueous cream! FAB Thanks!Very sore
The best thing I can suggest is to wash your hands with aqueous cream and then moisturise your hands after with it too.
