Has anyone found a convincing alternative pasta?

I've tried the Barenaked Konjac Rice and Noodles and while they're ok, I'd rather find something that's more like 'normal' pasta. Has anyone tried the ones made from red lentils or chickpeas yet? Any other recommendations?

EDIT: Actually, looking a bit more closely at the chickpea pasta, it doesn't seem to be any lower in carbs that normal pasta, it's more for the Gluten free crowd, so perhaps cross that off the list! Damn, I like chickpeas....

I use black bean or edamame bean pasta which is much lower carb than normal pasta and lower than the two you mention but you can compare the carbs on the packet. Normally found in the Freefrom section as it is gluten free. I find you don't need to cook it for too long, 5 mins otherwise it goes mushy. But is an OK substitute. I couldn't bear the Konjac products.

I have smaller portions of wholemeal pasta which raises BG slower than the normal white pasta. Personally I have never found a substite product I like the taste of.

Red lentil pasta is alright in terms of taste and texture but now just stick to normal pasta as I prefer it. I just need to have a really small amount of it but I load up on more sauce and veg.

The carbs were not very different if I remember correctly but I didn't get as high of a bg reading 2 hours later.

I've not tried or seen the chickpea version, where have you seen that?

If you only go by the label, the chickpea pasta carbs aren't much different to normal pasta.

But I did just see a box of Edamame Spaghetti which was much lower in carbs at Holland and Barrett that I might have to pick up next time im in the shop.

They sell chickpea pasta in aldi, much cheaper than Amazon

All carbs are different.
A lot find chickpea flour is much slower to digest, so gives a much lower BG response then white flour pasta.
The only way to know is try it, and test after.

I’ve had the fusilli, which is quite dense but ok. nicer than Konjac. can get it from Ocado. And they also do awesome wraps

I like the black bean/edamame bean/soy bean spaghetti. Aldi currently have it in their middle aisles, along with an edamame & mung bean fettuccine (I have not yet tried that one). The soy bean looks the most like standard spaghetti if looks plays a factor for you but I don't find a distinct difference in flavour between the black/green/beige versions (the black bean goes grey when cooked and the pasta water also goes grey)

I use Zenb yellow pea pasta. I think it‘s taste and texture is not too far removed from ordinary pasta. I have tried Edamame pasta but didn’t like it.

I quite like courgettes as a very low carb pasta alternative. I slice them up into pasta size slices, but if you prefer spaghetti
you can spiralize them:

Aldi have the black bean, edamame bean and soya bean pastas in the middle aisle at the moment not too expensive.

Another vote for the black bean pasta and/edamame bean pasta.
I can get a good portion to carry whatever yummy sauce we are having, and avoid the spike that I got with the normal pasta. I even came across an Italian restaurant that offered this !!!!!
