Well, I've eaten a complete meal tonight without a sign of any discomfort, so I've no worries about the gastroscopy at all, so I expect next Friday to announce there's b****r all wrong with me. Apart from the gastric reflux, diabetes, Ulcerative Colitis, chronic pancreatitis that is, but they don't bother me much.🙂

Good news Mike 🙂 I hope you have good weather, a smooth crossing, and that everything goes well 🙂

That's good to hear Mike. I hope the weather behaves itself and its calm seas there and back.

Hope your back on the road to recovery now Mikey B, not nice when both ends interact with each other I take omeprazole for oesophagus reflux which usually happens at night, I'm woken with a mouthful of acidy stuff & gasping for breath ugh! Sorry but that's what happens. Does the trick 99% of the time. Best wishes, take care.

Just seen this thread Mike. Hope the gastroscopy goes smoothly and they can reassure you nothing sinister is going on. I wonder if the hernia interfered with the normal vomiting process - sounds like a horrendous ordeal. Don't run out of your ranitidine again!!!!

I suffer badly if I don't do Atkins. Soon's I'm back on the Atkins I'm okay. Daren't go off it basically. Have nearly died a few times middle of the night waking choking ... not good at all! Acid Reflux is horrible. :(

Hope you're feeling better today Mike.

Hi Ditto. Acid reflux?.....heres your mate! It's horrible isn't it, mouthful of stuff & tastes absolutely revolting. I take Omeprazole for it but occasionly reflux happens to me when I have eaten late at night ....so no more midnight feasts! Take care

Hi MikeyB, sincerely hope the gastroscopy goes in your favour. Thinking of you & wish you well. Take care

Mike I hope all goes well for you tomorrow

All the best for tomorrow, Mike, from ferries to guts.

I took it for ages, but won't now due to the dementia thing, dunno if it's true but I won't risk it with Mum having Alzheimers. I'm just hoping she doesn't have the hereditary kind! I'm losing my marbles as it is so how would I know if I had it! :D

Hope it all goes well today x

Hope it's calm seas for you today and good results

Good luck, Mike.🙂

Hope all goes well and you're soon home.

All meds seem to increase risk of something or other. I take Omeprazole. Without it I suffer bad acid reflux that can lead to cancer of the oesophagus. So its a two edged sword. I've tried natural remedies but they don't work.

Well, I've gotten back from my adventure in Oban. The gastroscopy revealed an oesophageal pouch, which is not exactly common, but accounts for the very odd symptoms I was getting right at the start. For some reason it doesn't bother me when I'm taking Omeprazole.

No sign of anything nasty.

Anyway, next on the menu is a good old fashioned barium swallow, which will reveal the extent, and the dynamics, and then presumably surgical correction, though that would be done endoscopically using staples. No need to split open my chest and six-pack.🙂

Fantastic news Mike but you're certainly going thru the mill aren't you. At least things are on the move so to speak & it seems you've got a good set of medics looking after you. Well done. Glad to hear there'll be no invasion to your 6pack!!! take good care of yourself Mike

Glad your six pack is safe! That's a bit of a mixed blessing, isn't it, you were hoping it was nothing, but it could have been something worse.
