You can ask for a referral elsewhere - in your same area or outside of your Trust. You can request a named referral, meaning you will see that person, not anyone else.
This one is the best in my town, I’ve been to the other and been through the getting referred elsewhere to this one. It’s only this one registrar that isn’t a good fit, the consultant, DSNs and dietician that I’ve seen were all great. I used to always see the consultant who was good and seemed to understand my autism needs (e.g. making sure I understand the plan), and always saw him, not sure why I’m suddenly getting this other person instead now. I posted another update later on though as he called me to update before the letter 🙂

So pleased you're getting a Libre and an antibody test, Lucy! :D

In a slightly different context (thyroid rather than diabetes) I was told there's no point repeating an antibody test because if you've got them, you're going to continue to have them, so that suggests to me that a test done years after diagnosis should still show them if they're there.

There was no doubt about my GAD antibody result, it was off the chart, >2000! They didn't bother with C-Peptide after that!

For future ref, you can ask to see the consultant you like for all your appointments - I did that when I found that some of them didn't understand issues related to my ME, I just asked if I could always see one particular consultant, and they arranged it so I did. As well as telling them that she had been understanding, I also explained that because I was juggling different conditions I wanted more continuity so I didn't keep having to explain my needs.
