Hi
Just to say that by following the lower carb advice on here and the general advice in Dr Cavans book about no more than 30g of carbs at each meal I have got my Hba1c back to prediabetic levels (45) after only six months.... at diagnosis my hba1c was 49. Also lost half a stone in weight though I did not need to. Diabetic nurse I saw today was happy with me .. did not moan about my blood testing and does not want to see me for a year.
I have also done loads of walking and aqua classes and this has also helped.
Woo hoo!
My HDL cholesterol has increased to 3.1 trigs 0.5 total cholesterol 6.2 but she was happy for me to stay off statins (was not going to accept them anyway) as my ratios are good.
I do eat a lot of fish but I think that cutting down my carbs has helped get this result.
Wanted to share this news to encourage others.. it does work!
So a big thanks to all you guys and girls in the forum for encouragement.
