I have just finished with the Diabetes Prevention Group I was sent on last year, owing to being pre-diabetic (hba1c 42 then up to 43). Amazing to realise it has been a year.

I have now had 4 consecutive hba1cs of 33, 35, 37 and again today of 35. I have been told I am no longer at risk of diabetes. Disappointed could not get a reading in the 20s but co-ordinator said nothing wrong with this one and that 20s would be very difficult at 64. He said he goes to the gym everyday and eats a healthy diet and his is not in the 20s.

I told the co-ordinator I had received lots of help and support from this group and that I have achieved a lot thanks to all the help on here too.

I said it would be nice if I could treat myself to things now occasionally which he said was fine but not to go back to what I was doing before as that would not be wise. I have no intention of going back to the heavy carb diet I was on before. Need to put some more weight on so will check various foods which I introduce to see if they are OK or me.

I would like to thank everyone here for their help and support. Whilst the Diabetes Prevention Group was very helpful I could not have done this without this Forum. I would like to stay here if I may as I am always picking up helpful tips and love the recipes.

I am going to consider that I still have to be careful though.

Well done for your dedication and hard work. Good luck for the future

Well done Maz...the forum is great for advice & support...tips...suggestions...but it won't do the work for you...you've made great progress in managing your pre-diabetes...no doubt worked hard...it's always good to hear a thank you to the Forum & its members...I have learnt so much since joining...will always be grateful for that...but...you need to give yourself some credit too for all your hard work...reading your news is encouraging...inspiring...positive...shows it can be done...look forward to hearing more from you...are you celebrating?...you should be...again well done... that's a fantastic achievement.

Great news @Maz2. Congratulations on your hard work. Good to hear that this forum was able to assist with your work and Diabetes Prevention Group.

Really great news @Maz2! Congratulations that all your hard work and effort has paid off so well.

Enjoy those occasional treats 🙂

Thank you all. I went to lunch with some friends yesterday and now another of my friends is borderline diabetic. She is being sent on a prevention course. I have given her details of this group and have offered to give her some pointers which she said she would like. She is not very techy and internet minded but I have said how much help and support she will get here.

She has it in her family - Type II -with her Mom and grandmother so she may have a difficult road ahead but we will keep our fingers crossed.

Hiya Maz.🙂 It's great to hear your success story. Well done for all your hard work!😛:D😛 I think it's great that you're able to help others in the same situation too.🙂

Fabulous news, well done. clap.gif

Very well done.
You might find Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution helpful in making choices as you change your diet - it has suggested menus and recipes, also the 'carb ladder' is something I have found works for me.
