I have just finished with the Diabetes Prevention Group I was sent on last year, owing to being pre-diabetic (hba1c 42 then up to 43). Amazing to realise it has been a year.
I have now had 4 consecutive hba1cs of 33, 35, 37 and again today of 35. I have been told I am no longer at risk of diabetes. Disappointed could not get a reading in the 20s but co-ordinator said nothing wrong with this one and that 20s would be very difficult at 64. He said he goes to the gym everyday and eats a healthy diet and his is not in the 20s.
I told the co-ordinator I had received lots of help and support from this group and that I have achieved a lot thanks to all the help on here too.
I said it would be nice if I could treat myself to things now occasionally which he said was fine but not to go back to what I was doing before as that would not be wise. I have no intention of going back to the heavy carb diet I was on before. Need to put some more weight on so will check various foods which I introduce to see if they are OK or me.
I would like to thank everyone here for their help and support. Whilst the Diabetes Prevention Group was very helpful I could not have done this without this Forum. I would like to stay here if I may as I am always picking up helpful tips and love the recipes.
I am going to consider that I still have to be careful though.
