Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello All,

I was wondering whether there was any way to try to gain weight in a healthy weight despite having type 2 diabetes. The excessive weight loss that comes with type 2 diabetes is something I have come to accept. However, I am trying to gain muscle mass again, and I was wondering whether anyone have any advice or success stories they would like to share!

I appreciate your time.

Love,
K

Hi K, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you been diagnosed long? How did it come about, are you on any medication? Not sure I follow your question, Type 2 isn't normally associated with excessive weight loss - did you have symptoms for long prior to diagnosis?

Hi , Welcome . I was just about to ask the same questions as Northener.

Hello @Northerner
Thank you!
I am currently on 20 units twice a day and I have been on injections for a few months now. Everyone I have spoken to so far has spoken of excessive weight loss after being diagnosed with diabetes. The weight loss is normally around my arms and around my legs and my general frame looks smaller. Every forum I have visited speaks about how to lose weight and healthy eating but there is a scarce resource on muscle mass gain whilst having diabetes. I was wondering whether you have any advice or know of any other resources to help me gain more muscle mass.

Thank you,
K

Welcome.
I are sure you are Type 2, as it seems you are on Insulin and your profile say's your 20? This with the weight loss is more usal with Type 1.

I agree with Northerner and grovesy excessive weight loss is more commonly associated with Type 1 than Type 2, what ha s your GP and diabetes team been saying to you in regards of your diabetes x

I would be concerned about T1 vs T2, perhaps visit your GP for further tests,,,,,

At any rate, to answer your question can you tell us a little more about yourself, height, weight, how long since diagnosis..... What is your typical meal plan for a day (or few), do you exercise?
