I have just tried to upload a photo to the gardening thread.
It told me it was too big, which has not happened before, so I guess it is the new forum

I know there has been discussion about this but I don’t remember what the solution was.
I am a tech numpty so please keep it simple.

I found that I got a 'choose image size' on the ipad, in tiny blue letters underneath where it was showing me the selected image I wanted to post. If I clicked on that, and then chose 'medium' from the options, it would then load.

I always choose 'thumbnail' and it seems to work or it did before the forum changed, now I can't do anything. :D

I have been having this problem for weeks. I have given up on it.

The image upload size has been made as large as it can be, but its still only about 2.5MB I think.

I would suggest the easiest (but still tricky!) ways to resize on a tablet is either to email the original photo to yourself, or create a screenshot of it.

Email programmes usually either redice photos automatically, or allow you to choose small / medium / large / actual size when you send. Then you have to save the received attachment back into your photos, so you‘d have 2 versions... one full size camera pic, and the other detached from the email.

Alternatively open the image so it shows full screen and take a screenshot (often by pressing power button and home button simultaneously. Then you get the option to save the image to Photos.

Hope that helps

Ah thats a shame @grovesy. I liked the garden pic you managed to upload. But it sounds like it was too frustrating!

It was I took a out 7 photos yesterday, and uploaded to Facebook , got lots of comments. Tried to do it here again, and could not manage it. I did not have the problem before.

Ah sorry about that! Facebook will have resized them for you... If you press-and-hold when viewing the photo on FB (tablet) you will be able to ‘copy’ it and then ‘paste’ here. Or be able to save it to the photos on your tablet.

If on laptop you should be able to right-click (or option-click on Mac) to open a menu to download/save it?

I can ask the forum architect where the upload size limit is coded, seems odd that this is only since the upgrade, so perhaps not a limit imposed by the server?

I took them on my phone and just shared them with Facebook , no copying and pasting required.

I certainly had no problem uploading photos before.
It is a shame it is now more complex and less spontaneous, but I will give it a go.

Tried the screen shot and it still says it is too big. Grrr
Next I will try the email system

And after emailing
Still too big

This is such a shame as I now cannot up,old pictures for Procraftination or other stuff.
Robin I don’t seem to have the little message about choosing which way to do it.
Any more ideas.

I would really like this to be possible, and hope that there is a away of sorting this.
I know I was able to upload photos previously so it seems that it is just the upgrade that is causing this problem. I would be very grateful if you were able to sort this out.

I am going to ask the forum architect to look into it again.

When emailing to yourself did you select a smaller size?

Did you see something like this:
1584820896666.jpeg

... and then once you’d sent the email, did you copy the (now resized) photo that was sent/received?

That option did not appear when I did the email with the photo attached.
I am on an iPad and using the email button on it.
Our server is an independent company.

Does that make a difference?

I did then copy the photo from the email and it did have a border round it, and seemed smaller.
I hate tech problems. I just want t9 be able to upload photos and share them without any hassle. Sounds like I have become a @grovesy .

I have just posted a couple to Twitter and again like Facebook , press share, and twitter . and they were uploaded.
