First appointment with nurse about pumps

Maybe I should have asked him more about Tresiba. He said to keep it split doses, I might speak to my nurse and see what she recommends.

We cannot get my background levels set for longer than 1 week - 10 days, and we have worked out it is based on my periods, both menstruation and ovulation change my requirements, and because my cycles are random we cannot even plan. He is writing to the gynecologist and my GP about urgent sterlisation, if we can stop the random periods due to contraceptives that would help hugely also.

@nonethewiser yes I mentioned this and he did say we aren't there yet but it is exciting.

So far so good with Tresiba, but if the 3 days is the time for it to kick in we will see.
I am excited about this new adventure. And have read every post about the omnipod
Proud is right-- splitting Tresiba makes no sense! The whole point of Tresiba is that it has an ultra-long profile of action.

I've been on Tresiba since diagnosis. Started on 10 units a day-- but we kept having to reduce it due to night hypos, until we settled on 1.5 units a day. So I've been on 1.5 for over 5 months now.

And then, like Proud, I deal with my day-to-day variations by tinkering with bolus and carbs, depending on how my body is reacting on the day (or on the hour!).

It sounds to me as though Tresiba, on a steady low dose (albeit probably not as low as mine; apparently I'm a bit of a freak!) is what you need, while waiting for your Omnipod. If your insulin requirements change frequently, even randomly, it makes much more sense to tinker with that using bolus and carbs.

Until that great day when you get your pump!! So exciting. Do you know when you'll be getting it?

Tresiba going much better, I am easily 70% in range, recent illness and period threw me off for a few days but back to normal.
And more excitingly I have a date for my pump 13th March 😱

It’s on and it seems to be going okay.
My basal will need tweaking as we went with flat line amounts, I know this won’t be right likely need less early am, hypo alarm went off 2am but I managed to keep it above 4.2 with suspension and back to 6 this morning after a packet of raisins.
Carb ratio I don’t think I set up right at all as last night it told me I would need 30units of carbs for 2 slices of bread when I would normally have 3units so I have tweaked it but I’m not sure that was right. Speaking with my nurse again tomorrow. Gonna be a fun journey
