Recently I am noticing that I am getting the rise that others have as soon as they get up. I know the solution is to give a shot of insulin. I am getting in a muddle with dealing with this.

If I test I am just beginnning to rise so the reading won’t trigger a sufficient correction yet but I know that my BG is on its way up as shown on the Libre (this always readers higher in the morning probably due to needing fluids)
If I deliver insulin without a test and no carbs it will not include this for the insulin on board when I get to doing breakfast delivery.
I don’t want to wait until I have risen as I am doing the bolus to head off that morning spike.

What do others do who are using bolus calculators on handsets and/or pumps.

Will it record it if you test only....?

If so, can you then override the amount you put in......?

on the Medtronic Veo pump all the calculations take place and you are offered up the dose, which you can confirm, at this stage however you can make manual adjustments to it.....I do this often....probably too often...

Like @novorapidboi26 I would simply override the suggested bolus dose and boost it up a bit (Medtronic 640G) but I'm not sure what the wizard will allow you to do on your pump.

I generally find I can manage FHTF with either a fixed extra splosh of insulin if I'm not eating breakfast, a basal pattern boost and stronger ratio at breakfast and some well worn adjustments to carb counts to tell the wizard (ie known/repeated breakfasts and telling the wizard x carbs when strictly speaking I know I'm eating y)

Try increasing your basal rate by a tad from 2 hours before you start shooting up - once you're on a pump you shouldn't need to actually bolus for stuff like this that always happens.

That would make sense TW if I got up at the same time each day. However I don’t and if I can find another way round it I shall continue to enjoy the flexibility that retirement has brought, (and yes getting up time can vary quite a lot)

Thanks Mike. I know that the bolus calculator treats correction doses and bolus for carbs differently in its calculations. I think the easiest is giong To be just to deliver a bit and attach it to carbs, which is similar to what you are diong. Just lie to my handset!!
