@Leadinglights For me, eating more fat and protein is the key to not feeling hungry. A 3 egg mushroom omelette with cheese and a salad and cheese coleslaw for breakfast usually means I don't want anything more to eat until evening time or maybe even later. If you are hungry through the day, have some nuts or cheese or eggs or a tub of olives or some veggie sticks with sour cream and chive/garlic dip. There really is no reason to be hungry and if you are worried about not losing weight, your BG levels are the more important factor so focus on controlling those and don't worry about the weight.
Many people find weight loss just happens when they are focused on keeping their BG in range.
I think trying to lose weight and control carb intake is very difficult for many people. The extreme low calorie short term diets like the Newcastle/Fast 800, to lose weight quickly and get rid of the visceral fat is known to be effective in many cases in reversing diabetes but you need to find a way to maintain the weight loss afterwards
OR
You ignore the weight issue and eat to control your BG levels and weight may or may not come off but your diabetes should be reasonably well managed and the
odd treat shouldn't cause too much BG upheaval provided you are sensible about portion size and frequency.
I think there are people who can focus on both aspects at the same time and have weight loss and BG goals, but I don't think everyone can and I think you should cut yourself some slack and not worry about losing weight and eat more calories to stop you from feeling hungry and deprived and miserable but choose those calories wisely ie low carb to manage your BG levels more easily.
As regards exercise, don't be disillusioned about not seeing instant results. It may well push your levels higher during and shortly afterwards but they will come down lower later and it is often exercise which will improve your fasting reading the next day, particularly if you can do a little bit every day. I know it will be frustrating not to see results or feel kicked in the teeth by higher readings after you have pushed yourself to do exercise but the rewards come up to 48hours later and will be part of the reason why you are now getting 7s instead of 30s.
Please focus on the fantastic achievements that you have already had in reducing your levels so dramatically. That really is amazing and you should be incredibly proud of that. We know it isn't easy but I wonder if maybe you are making it harder for yourself than you need to. Eating more fat was a huge turning point for me in eating low carb and makes all the difference between it being sustainable long term or impossible.
