I eat the fats which come with the meat and fish, I have double cream in my coffee, and my cholesterol is lower than when eating porridge, wholemeal bread and low fat everything.
The idea that eating fats raises cholesterol does seem to be wrong.

I was taught that most cholesterol is made in the liver, and has nothing to do with dietary cholesterol

Blimey it’s no wonder we get so confused

I don't have high cholesterol but I was advised to go on a low fat, low sugar, low salt, no alcohol diet when I was diagnosed with diabetes. After a month of that (which was hard work and unsustainable) and the loss of a stone and a half and some research and regular blood checks and my HbA1c going up instead of down, I decided that fat was not the enemy and was perhaps the nutrient to see me through this. Since increasing my dietary fat like butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt and fatty meats and cutting the starchy foods, I feel much better, my BGs are stabilising and most importantly I am enjoying my food which is important since this has to be a life long dietary change. One of the things I found most interesting in my research was a very powerful and quite emotional "TED" talk video by Dr Peter Attia about how carbohydrates and not fats are the problem with our modern diet. I can highly recommend watching it and will try to find the link and post it. We have been programmed to believe that dietary fat is unhealthy since the 1950s and from the information he has uncovered it very much looks like the scientific basis for that belief was dubious to say the least.
