Can't comment as I have not been on one, I don't think they had them when I was diagnosed.OK, I think I can live with that. Odd but hey ho this whole thing is odd. Still waiting (not with great anticipation) for the DESMOND course thingy... Diagnosed in July, GP told me she would get me on this course and eye screening. I contacted her a few weeks ago and asked what is happening, she assured me she had booked me - lo and behold a few days after our chat, I received the eye screening appointment (which I was more concerned about). Still waiting for the other - but from what I have read I don't think I am missing too much and I have picked up loads from the support forum anyway.
Hi (me again)Cool!
Hi (me again)
Just wondered when you reach your goal and get to see the doctor and they want to take you off the Metformin - what are your thoughts? I wonder what if that happens to me -as I would never know what is contributing to the BGLs - diet and metformin, does the body adjust to diet alone? how much does metformin actually assist the process? Of course I can't ask the GP or diabetic nurse as it is impossible to have that sort of sensible chat with them. My last chat with the Diabetes nurse went along lines like this - I went for a flu jab in October and told her I had been diagnosed in July on my birthday and so birthday celebrations were muted. But in October I decided to (wait for it) buy a chocolate eclair (having checked the carbs etc), I cut it half and ate one piece and had the other piece the next day. She could have said nothing - oh no, her response was oh you must be so careful of the fat content. God I just looked at her and left. By the way the eclair was lovely. Lord knows what she would say if she knew that I had two squares of dark chocolate every evening...
