Just got back from having my retinopathy check at the hospital - the consultant said although there was a very small bit of bleeding it wasn't anything to worry about and I've been discharged back to normal annual screening! Hurrah! 🙂

That is absolutely fantastic news. I am so pleased for you. That's brilliant:D

that's good news. Just came home today from a day trip away with my OH to find a letter from Eye Hospital i've been waiting for as I've to get a cataract op done. And the date of my appointment is................ MY Birthday ........... nae luck, as they say!! We are going away for my birthday that weekend too. Still, the sooner I get seen and get the op, I'll be able to get back to driving again. But I'm really not looking forward to having it done - scaredy cat xx Is

Fab news Alan! So pleased for you! 🙂 Katie

Aw, what a shame they've picked your birthday! :( Hope everything goes well 🙂

Thanks folks 🙂 I almost didn't go because I was feeling a little down about things, but the example so many people here have set me persuaded me that I should get it over and done with. 🙂

Alan, brilliant news!

Eyes are very important - so very pleased for you

That's really good news, Alan. So often it's the fear of something which gets in the way of going along to appointments for things diabetic so I can understand why you didn't want to go this time. Well done you for overcoming that feeling and setting an example to all of us. 🙂

Great news Alan, and what a huge relief for you.

Good news Northerner, good news is always welcome.

O/H was supposed to go to a little local hospital (we've been offered "more choice" for more hospitals here doing screening) yesterday only to get a phone call to say that the camera had broken down and could he make another appointment. I never thought he'd break a camera without even looking at it but I was wrong ! :D

That's great news, Alan you must be so pleased 🙂.

Thanks everyone 🙂 I think the main thing that bothered me about going to the hospital was that, if they did decide I need treatment so early in my 'diabetes life' then it wouldn't bode well for the future. As many of you know I have sickeningly good control and my blood pressure is nigh-on perfect as well, so that would give me nothing to improve on to avoid complications. So it's a big relief that things have either pretty much stayed as they are or even got better over the past couple of years 🙂 I never forget how lucky I am in comparison to a lot of people.

Great news, congratulations! 🙂

It's nice when someone has a good result, but unfortunately a lot of people don't have a good result. Long may it continue for you Alan. Sheena

Thank you Sheena. I know it's much more difficult for a lot of people - I hope that your own problems have settled now.

Great news Northerner!
I went for my first test today so I hope I get good results. Quite pleased I've had it done though as I've been getting pains behind the eyes.
